Auf Der Heide's Van Diemen's Land

[source FIRSTSHOWING]
Here is a trailer for Jonathan Auf Der Heide's Van Diemen's Land. The movie is based on a true story of Alexander Pearce, Australia's most notorious convict. In 1822, Pearce and seven fellow convicts escaped from Macquarie Harbour, a place of ultra banishment and punishment, only to find a world less forgiving.. the Australian wilderness. Abandon all hope you who enter.

The movie was filmed in 2008 in Tasmania where Van Diemen's Land is located and the movie is based on short called Hells Gate which was written and directed by Jonathan Auf Heide who directed and co-wrote Van Diemans with Oscar Redding.

During the summer the movie done the rounds of many of the top film festivals including the Edinburgh Film Festival back in June and now this Friday it will get it's National release in Australia. I have no date or even information if the movie will be released in UK or Ireland and if it does it will either be a limited release or general release via arthouse cinemas.

Trailer 1 for German Thriller Die Tur (The Door)

The is the first trailer for Die Tur or The Door starring Danish actor Mad Mikkelsen. The movie centre's on the formerly successful painter David who has lost control over his life after being responsible for the death of his seven-year-old daughter Leonie through a fatal decision. One day, seven years later, he discovers a door which will give him the opportunity to start all over again. However, what initially appears to be a wonderful chance for a new beginning, soon turns out to be a veritable horror scenario, since not everything in the past is quite as it seems....
Watching the trailer it does look very dark but very good, I have no information if the movie will be released in the cinemas in UK and Ireland but the movie will be out in Germany November 12th.

Chow Yun-Fat Confucius Trailer

Thanks to First Showing courtesy of QuietEarth here is the first trailer for CONFUCIUS. The lead role of Confucius is played by Chow Yun-Fat who is better known in the west for his parts in such films as Hard Boiled, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Bulletproof Monk. Confucius was an iconic philospher and this 3 minute long trailer is full of beautiful visuals with fantastic emotive music and personally this show's Chow Yun-Fat back on form after many years in Hollywood wilderness.
One thing the Chinese do so well is protray historical battles or people with such elegance and detail. Confucius was an highly influencial philospher and thinker during the Chinese Zhou Dynasty and inspired the way of life not just for the Chinese, but also Japanese, Vietmanese and Koreans. Confucius lived between 551-479BC in China and celebrate the philospher's birth and the 60th anniversary of the formation of the chinese republic the movie will be premiered at the end of this month (28th).
There has been no confirmation of a release date for UK/Ireland plus what form it will be released in either (DVD or Cinema) but expect sometime in 2010.
