Offical Trailer for Greek period movie Mavro livadi (Black Field)
source QuietEarth
Below is the offical trailer for Greek Movie Mavro livadi (Black Field). This is a very bleak period drama, not from the typical period era we usually see from Greek inspired movies but from a later period of the Ottoman Empire period when the Turks ruled Greece (1654 period time).
The movie sees a wounded Turkish warrior arriving at all female monastery, heavily wounded who take him in. He gets nursed by a young nun who falls in love with the turkish soldier. The young nun was on a oath of silence and she has a secret she doesnt care sharing with the soldier that she is actually a he, a boy.
Right away this is an "Crying Game" type movie and you would true in saying that.. Visually this movie is very haunting but also visually beautiful. When the Crying game came out in the 1980's seeing a transgender romance would have been very contriversial but now, sexuality not really a big taboo now. Howver it would be curious to see the reaction in other countries to this movie, countries that may not be as opened.
Movie opens February 12th in Greece

Takeshi Kitano's OUTRAGE first teaser trailer
source QuietEarth
When it came to American-Italian gangster movies you always look up Al Pacino, Robert De Niro or even Joe Pesci to pull off some authenticity. In Japan there's only one actor right away who is good enough to either take on or be one himself thats Beat or to me and you Takeshi Kitano .
Old Beat's been in a bit of a hiatus recently and now he's finally back with his new movie AUTOREIJI (Outrage). Its business as usual for Beat as he takes on hisYakuza role as an subordinate role as Otomo running his crew with jobs that no other crew wants and with the police on his back you cant trust old Beat to get his house in order and maybe sort a few others as well.
The teaser trailer below doesnt show alot of action but it does suggest they'll be alot in this movie which is due to be out in Japan around June time.

Beautiful trailer for Tom Courtney's AN ARTIFICAL LIGHT
sourceQuietEarth
Here's a beautiful little trailer for the indie drama AN ARTIFICAL LIGHT created by Tim Courtney. I dont know much about it apart from the post Quietearth has done on it. From what I can gather its a relationship drama about a man who has recently split up from his girlfriend and he is trying to deal with the situation by taking a tripback down memory lane.
I do love the grey monetone look and backed with the good music it gives the movie a sweet but tranquil feel to it, if you think about it thats what the main character is trying to get some peace of mind so he can move on. As for any release information I have nothing but I believe the movie is doing the rounds at the Sundance festival in USA.
Trailer for Cyberpunk anime from Russia - EXAELLA
source QuietEarth
I love Japanese anime and Manga, loved it ever since I watched Miyazaki Laputa many years back when I was still a mipper at school.
When it came to Anime no one better than the Japanese but I've found a challanger here and its not Japanese its Russian! The trailer below is for EXAELLA created by Andrew Oudot and its set a post-apocalyptic time where millions of people have fallen to Lethargic state to save the dwindling resources. A few have awaken from the state and try to save the sleepy population.
All I can say is this is looking like a fantastic cyberpunk story, very stunning and ill think itll surprise alot of hardcore Japanese anime fans!

Trailer for Marcelo Pineyro's Las viudas de los jueves
sourceQuietEarth
Below is the trailer for Thursday Night Widows (or Las viudas de los jueves ) a movie created by Marcelo Pineyro. (The Method).
The movie is based on a novel by Claudia Piñeiroa highly praised novel about a life of crime, poverty, alcaholism, country club dinner parties, infidelity behind the doors of million dollar estates of a upper class suburb of Buenos Aires, Argentina
To me this sounds like another episode of Dallas or Dynasty with a more risque edge to it, but then again what doe we know we are only the plebs!

Hakon Lui's MISS KICKI Trailer
Source QuietEarth
Internet can be a wonderful tool to a world of information, you could basically learn anything you want.It also can build peoples hopes up, you can be someone else to another person but when that person you are someone else to, it can destroy a person. In MISS KICKI is about an estranged mother called Kicki he wants to head to China to rekindle her love for her online Boyfriend and heads to China.
Viktor her doesnt realise the true reason for going his mum going to China and even her"boyfriend" doesnt know she is in town There is an edge of creepiness in this movie with how Kicki searches for her boyfriend, but its the awkwardness of that actual first meet, but like anything over time will he still be her boyfriend?
This does have a wonderful look to it, strangers in a strange land, a little lke Lost In translation, a movie I adore and have on dvd. I do hope this movie does get some sort of release through indie/arthouse cinemas in UK & Ireland.
Synopsis:"Kicki has after several years abroad returned to Sweden. Her 17-year old son has been brought up by his grandmother and has a very distant relationship to his mother. In an effort to get reacquainted Kicki invites her son to join her on vacation in Taiwan. But her hidden agenda is that Taipei is also the home of the Taiwanese businessman with whom she has been conducting an Internet romance". - imdb

When I was at University studing Graphic Design, one thing I learned from my time is no matter how good something you create is, the professional will compliment you but will always find 500 reasons to criticise you. HANGAR NO.5 is an impressive student made short movie from the students of Northwestern University which I think maybe Seattle. The reason I started this post as I did as I also learned alot of students didn't get as much credit as they deserved and these guys deserve credit.
This short is an fast paced 11 minute adventure inspired from the likes of Indiana Jones, it may have its faults but it have great enthusiasm and determination to work.
Read the synopsis below and enjoy!

Naughty Spanish trailer for LUNA CALIENTE (Sultry Moon)
source QuietEarth
Those Spanish know how hot up a cinema screen with this little naught number called LUNA CALIENTE (or Sultry Moon). Directed by veteren Vicente Aranda and is based on a novel by Mempo Giardinelli which sees a man Ramiro who returns home to start a new career but his life turns upside down on one night, a night of a full moon.Within that full moon cycle he becomes a rapist, murderer and fugitive and his victim is an young beautiful woman (see picture above) where he has some steamy liason with, nudge, nudge, wink wink.
The book is meant to be some read, not one you would leave around the coffee table for your old granny to read and choke on her digestive biscuits. Looking at the trailer it does look risque but as in how much liasons happen its unclear, enjoy the trailer....
The Noury Brother's THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD Trailer
source QuietEarth
When I first spotted this I was very curious, its a david bowie movie named after one of his more famous songs he done in early 1970's (or as a 15 year old informed me its the Nirvana song that came out in the 1990's but covered by David Bowie centuries ago!!!).
The Man Who Sold The World is an movie by Imad Noury & Swel Noury brothers from Morocco and is based on a novel by Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky called "A Weak Heart". The movie takes place in an unknown city where a young man has everything going for him but he;s going insane.
Reading stuff on this movie and the brothers are gaining a reputation in producing high end movies. This movie has done the festival circuits in Dubai, Marrakech and will open Berline Festival, as for any release information for the movie to be played in UK or Ireland I dont have yet.
I Do love this stylish trailer which does actually have someone covering the david bowie song of the same name or was it the nirvana song?

Family Affairs in tatters with trailer for Death Waltz
source TwitchFilm
If you think you have family problems, you should check out this trailer for Halálkeringö (Death Waltz) created by Hungarian director Köves Krisztián Károly. The daughter(Elza) a junkie and pregnant, caught in a tense love triangle and loosing grip of her life. When she turns 30 her father turns up out of the blue but elza hates him with a passion. Her father Rusty a legendary police man in the force and this reunion is turning out to the reunion from hell.
Looking at the trailer it looks very gripping, claustophobic, very tense affair. Looking at the posters which show both elza with a blood drenched knife and another with Rusty in same style means there could be a fight to the death here, but who lives?
Death Waltz is out in cinemas in Hungary now.
Trailer for Thomas Vinterberg's SUBMARINO
source SlashFilm
When Dogme95 "film movement" outside of Europe Lars Von Trier was the man who got all the appraisal, but Thomas Vinterverg the co-creator never really got the praise he deserved. His movie Festen (The Celebration) got him alot of credit he deserved. Unfortunately for Thomas he couldn't live upto the expections in his next few movies.
Vinterberg's work is very new to me and I admit I havent seen any of his movies, but with the last few years I have called my Film education years, the years I expand my love of movies to take in as many genres as possible. The nearest Independent cinema to me is in Glasgow(which would show his movies), I ask myself why havent I went there? I could say I've been scared as in the sense what people will think that I would like a non-hollywood movie. Now you cant get me away from that cinema!
Below is the trailer for SUBMARINO, Vinterberg's latest movie about 2 estranged brothers in a dark but modern drama based on a Jonas T. Bengtsson book which involves an childhood event which ripped them apart.
The movie will premiere at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival, with an release in Denmark on March 25th. There will be an limited American Release, as for UK &Ireland there is no news.
sorry there's no english subtitles for trailer, its in its native Danish language.

Bizzare trailer for Alex Cox's REPO CHICK
source Cinematical
Its confusion time for those who'll think Im talking about Jude Law's new flick RepoMen, but Im not, Who can remember the 1984 classic cult movie RepoMan starring Emilio Estevez? Unless you were an hardcore movie fan you would have be at least 35 years upwards to at least remember this movie. I have to admit repoman wasnt one of my favourites but I appreciated the cult status following it had and still has.
Well Alex Cox is back back RepoChick, Im unsure if you would call this the sequel to the 1984 movie, more a spin off movie, like Machete with Grindhouse.
This spin off stars Jaclyn Jonet, Miguel Sandoval, Xander Berkeley, Danny Arroyo and Rosanna Arquette.

U.S Trailer for Korean movie MOTHER
Source FirstShowing
It premiered in Europe early last year in Cannes Film Festival Madeo (Mother) by Joon-ho Bong.
This is an violent, dark movie but also a loving movie of a mother lives quietly with her twenty-eight-year-old son, Do-joon, providing herbs and acupuncture to neighbors. One day, a girl is brutally murdered, and Do-joon is charged with the killing. Now, it's his mother's call whether to prove him innocent or to leave him imprisoned.
I think if you like Chan-wook Park movies such as Oldboy, and more recently Thirst you will like Mother . Below is The American Trailer for the movie which is getting a limited release in USA thanks to Magnolia Pictures on March 12th. As for UK & Ireland the movie did play at London Film Festival last october but I've heard no word of a limited release in this country, more likely to be straight to DVD.

Watch OLD FANGS animation short (Sundance 2010)
Source TwitchFilm
Its a little frustrating trying to get some sort of coverage of a festival overseas when you are based in UK. For my main blog The Peoples Movies I tried to get some press release information on the Sundance Festival which is currently on at the moment Stateside. I think it was the old your over there and we're here attitude, but I think some people forget the internet is everyone everywhere, so even if you focus on movies coming out in your country you will always get keen movie goers looking at your site whatever part of the world your from.
Below is an Animation short from Irish Animator Adrien Merigeau called OLD FANGS. As part of this years Sundance Festival they are streaming or letting people rent a number of movies/shorts online which is great especially if you cant get to the festival. This years festival they have introduced alot more experimental pieces of film & animation and Old Fangs is a fine expample of the great work you can admire at the festival.
Sorry I dont know much about the animated short, so next best thing is to watch and enjoy!
Trailer for Irish Indie 100 HUNDRED MORNINGS
source QuietEarth
End of the world movies have been coming back into fashion the past few years. Forst it was zombies, natural disasters, terminators, nuclear attacks and most recently unknown disaster, but no one has actually created a movie where society just falls apart until now.
Below is the trailer for low budget indie 100 HUNDRED MORNINGS, a movie set in a world of a complete breakdown of society, two couples hide out in a lakeside cabin hoping to survive the crisis. As resources run low and external threats increase, each of them faces a critical decision they never thought they'd have to make...offical Website
The movie is simple, no fancy special fx, normal people living in what they thought were normal sorroundings, this looks a very powerful piece of story writing which will appeal to people. It does have resemblance to BBC'S Survivors series and the movie has been getting international apprisal and will play at this years Slamdance Festival. Here's hoping we do get to see the movie in UK.

Sorry guys this trailer is in its native language but its cinematogoraphy just looks wonderful so I had to post it. Below is the trailer for Finnish drama Havukka-ahon ajattelija (BackWood Philospher). The movie is directed by Kari Väänänen and when I watch this it just reminds of one of those David Attenburgh nature programmes, striking imagery that any country's tourist board would be proud of. Its a true sample of how powerful cinema can be without usung any narritive or expensive special fx.The movie is based on a Veikko Huovinen novel about 2 biologists and a lumberjack who explore the backwoods of an remote part of finland in order to learn new things on science, history and human nature, see what you think.

When I looked it this post at Twitch before I even clicked to watch the trailer I just kept whistling I fought The Law by the Clash, but Johnny does kick some law's ass in the trailer for THE CLASH(Bay Rong).
If you love your martial arts flicks old school style you'll love Bay Rong as this is proper kick ass stuff. If you are a mad martial arts fan you will know Johnny Nguyen who is a major player in the genre. She hire's more mercenaries like Quan (Nguyen) to help her but there relationship gets complicated when both dont have the same motivations.
This movie came out before christmas in its native Veitnam, I dont expect it to be shown on the big screen here, expect a straight to DVD movie, whatever way hardcore Martial Art fans will love this.

Below is the trailer for The Last Rites of Ransom Pride a western that could bring back a little bit of cult status many westerns especially spagehtti westerns.
The movie does have a stellar line up of known names: Lizzy Caplan, Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, Peter Dinklageand Jason Priestley. The story is simple one of a woman trying to bring her outlawed lover home for burial but as usual nothing is straight forward. All together this does look like a solid produce movie with some fast and thick action, c'mon you have 2 western music legends in yoakim and kristofferson to give the movie that authentic country feel!

Below is the trailer for Indie coming of age movie DESERT SON. Created by James Mann
about a boy abandoned in the desert left to fend for himself and eventually joined 2 other kids who in odrer to live they must take a life of crime via a nearby town.

Wonderfully shot scenes which are simply down to the directors cinematography background bring a bit beauty to this movie. I know this sounds strange, as ive said many times on this blog but more on my other blog I still regard myself as a student Films. After many years of neglect I am finally appreciating the great art, but as I learn its not always what you know about a particular movie or persons sometimes its the poster, the photo that attract me to movies and I can say it was the poster it did it here.
Below is a trailer for Fillipino director Erik Matti's new movie THE ARRIVAL. It s described as a bit of an personal movie for Matti and its all about a withdrawn accountant called Leo simply been one of the good guys for his boss and because of this he's slipped into the background of life. Seen nothing, done nothing even his works security guards mistaken for been a new employee even after 3 years been there!
As I said its a personal movie and Erik Matti's career in movies has been alot like the character Leo he's one of the good guys, following protocols hiking out movies and get his bossess all the money they desire. But now he's decided enough is enough and decided to make a movie the way he wants and THE ARRIVAL is his first movie since he changed.
Trailer is below and in English subtitles and The Arrival is already out in cinemas in Phillippines.

This is an gangster comedy with a bit of style and panash seen in early guy ritchie movies, its violent, fast paced and also funny. You may have seen this trailer online but the difference with this one than previous is that its with English subtitles!!
Loads of eye candy in this as well as that you now will know how to say "Nigerian Hooker" in Norweigan!!! Tomme Tonner is now in cinemas around Norway.

Western Spoof with Paul Gross in GUNLESS
source Twitchfilm
Been from Scotland I can fully understand Candians have a pop at there big Neighbours USA, its like that when a Scot will take chance at our big neighbours England. Im not one to throw abuse at English but as I like to say ... If throw abuse at someone who are capable of coping with abuse in return, if not dont throw abuse in the first place! So GUNLESS seems to be an opportunity to throw a little stick at the Americans.
The movie stars Paul Gross who is a big name in Canadian TV and to anyone in the UK or Ireland who can remember Due South he played Contstable Benton Fraser. Gunless is an Western Spoof about The Montana Kid a known gunslinger who stutters into a small Canadian Hamlet cue the pisstake.
The only other recognisable face is Graham Greene who has been in countless tv & movies like Murder She Wrote, Northern Exposure, Dances With Wolve, De Hard with aVengance but most recently as Jacob's father playing Harry Clearwater in Twilight Saga.
Gunless will get an cinema release in its Native Canada on April 30th, as for the rest of us I dont really know. So boys and girls of all countries you are welcomed on CineHouse blog so keep it nice and freindly or its off to bed with no supper!!!
PATERAPI/THERAPY trailer
source Twitchfilm
After been a cold blooded assassin in Angels & Demons life was going to be hard been a Hapless husband for Nikolaj Lie Kaas in Danish comedy PATERAPI(Therapy).
Lie Kaas plays Anders and he lives in a Danish working class suburb with his young attractive wife where he bought her an old rundown house that he'll convert into her own dream house. It all sounds great and simple but to get her the dream home they have to rent out there basement to get the cash to start the work, oh boy! enter Ulrich the therapist, Money Pit anyone?
Dont get me wrong the trailer does look good and shows Nikolaj Lie Kass can cope with more than been a cold blooded killer, thrown in a little comedy.
Paterapi will be released in Denmark on February 25th.

Everytime I here of Greenland I only think of the country been a vast barren area with a very small population, but credit due to them. The trailer below and the movie does look like it was beautifully shot and will do some justic to the country as well possibly on tourist front. The movie was released in November in Greenland but 23rd January it will get a limited release in USA, as for UK & Ireland I dont really know
