Trailer 2 For Feng Xiaogang's AFTERSHOCK

No comments:
source Twitchfilm
Its days like this I'm greatfull where I live (Scotland) for the sake that earthquakes have a 1% chance of ever happening in my country. Lets go to China the biggest populated country in the world, it's 1976 Tangshan City in Hebei province on July 28, the world's worst earthqauke destroy's the area with a 7.8 on richter scale killing nearly 250,000 people and injuring just as many, its a tragic event.

Feng Xiaogang's movie AFTERSHOCK is centered around this event following the tragic events through the eyes of a little girl. This is not a disaster movie as in the sense of fictional Towering Inferno, this is based on a true event which no one ever wants to see but tragically does occour, this is a weepie folks an emotional rollercoaster ride.
The movie is due out on July 22nd in china and will be the country's first produced IMAX movie and the poster on the left is for the American release  as in when it is I dont have or even if there's a UK release too, hopefully there will be.

Classic Anime Goes Live Action with Trailer For SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO

No comments:

Source Twitchfilm
Unless you followed Anime or you can a remember a classic 'cartoon'  from your childhood called Starblazers (it's American name) you may not know about this but SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO is one of the classic 'Space Soap Opreas' and now 33years on the live action version is nearly with us and below is its first full trailer.
Takashi Yamazaki  will be a rich rich man as Yamato is so sacred to the Japanese like Coronation Street here in the UK, but like any national treasure you have to treat it with respect and make sure you dont spoil it.
The creators behind this movie are going big style on the special effects and what we see from the footage I'm mighty impressed! This will be a blockbuster movie in Japan and there lead been fromJapanese pop phenomenon SMAP, Takuya Kimura
For those not familar with Yamato you can look at it like a old school Battlestar Glactica but more darker as well as grimer.Check out the trailer after the break and this movie is heading for a December 1st release in Japan and due to the cult status the animation has in the West I do think we'll see a big following here as well.

Vincent Gallo Joins The Taliban in ESSENTIAL KILLING

No comments:

source Vulture

Vincent Gallo seems to have a trail of controversay folling him, he does pick the movies which will get the highbrow gossip mongering, follow your heart I say. Well this one will have the middle class rightwing America choking on their frappechinos with Jerzy Skolimowski's ESSENTIAL KILLING.

This one think Rambo First Blood minus the macho testoserone and the mai character been a Talaban member!

The Essence of Killing follows the story of a Taliban member (Gallo) who lives in Afghanistan, kills three American soldiers and then is taken captive by the Americans. He is transferred to Europe for interrogation but manages to escape from his captors and becomes an escaped convict on a continent he does not know.

Indie horror comedy here with DEATH OF ALICE BLUE which Twitch describes it as a mixed up version of Arrested Development crossed with Edward Scissorhands, mmm maybe. Its low budget here and will be one of the movies which will travel more on festival circuit (which its doing right now) but it is getting a release in its native Canada in August.

Trailer For Danish Movie HAEVEN (IN A BETTER WORLD)

No comments:

source Twitch
Popular Danish Arthouse director Susanne Bier  known for been the director of  Brodre (Brothers, recently remade in hollywood with Tobey Maguire, Jake Gyllenhaal), After The Wedding and Things We Lost in The Fire is returning to our screens with her latest movie HAEVEN.
Also known as In A Better World & Civilization is causing much confusion as in what the synopsis of the film as there's lack of English translation. The IMDB explanation doesn't really concide with the trailer, but I found this at Danish Film Insitute:

"In a Better World" traces elements from a refugee camp in Africa to the grey humdrum of everyday life in a Danish provincial town. The lives of two Danish families cross each other, and an extraordinary but risky friendship comes into bud. But loneliness, frailty and sorrow lie in wait, and soon friendship transforms into a dangerous alliance and a breathtaking pursuit in which life is at stake.

The movie is due out in Denmark on August 27th with Sony Classics picking up the rights for USA, as for UK/Ireland or a release date, I dont have that now. check out the trailer after the break...

English Subtitled Trailer for Go Shibata's DOMAN SEMAN

No comments:
source NipponCinema
This trailer is bordering on full on weirdness but we love that sort of movies here at Cinehouse HQ! DOMAN SEMAN is the lastest movie from Gô Shibata (Late Bloomer), well it actually I think its already been out in its native Japan but it'll premiere at next month's Asian Film Festival in New York on July 5th.

Doman Seman revolves around a lazy no-gooder Shinsuke and his homeless mushroon eating friend Tsutomu who are enlisted by a magical spirit who presents himself as Mr.Abe the Yakuza magican to do battle against the evil & greed of modern society. Mr.Abe with his new 2 recruits along with an army of pyshic children must track down a man who tracks dark energy down to a murder this man commited when he was a teenager.

Very bizzare, symbolistic even a little occult here Shibata say's he was inspired by the works of David Lynch (yes obscure) and Spanish  Alejandro Jodorowsky  to create his magical world of realism, mmm!

However if you where approached with a version which goes in a direction you would never think of what would you do? Check it out!!!

Trailer For Chinese Anime KSITIGARBHA

No comments:

source Twitch
China isn't renowned for been a centre of producing animation, thats animation in the same frame and to the same qaulity as there neighbours Japan . Every so often there always comes a project which could match that qaulity of the Japanese anime masters and below theres a trailer for a movie that could be one of those projects, its called KSITIGARBHA.
The movie has been directed by Wu Hanqing and will be released by Beijing based animation house Vasoon. Visually it does look it does look really great, wait until half way when the action kicks in, the only doubt I have in this movie is the actual story is it good enough as you know a good story is usually a good movie (well 75% of the time!). There's a biggest religious feel to the movie especially Bhuddism  definately one of caution, I would love to get my hands on this movie and many other movies but Im only a blogger!

Below is the teaser trailer for Jeremy Rush's movie short NO ROAD TO FOLLOW his debut movie, its an interesting hopeful piece which has no dialogue, but what lacks in speech we get great cinematography along with a pounding soundtrack which does make this look a interesting movie which is due for release very soon.

10-10-10 The World will become a dark place, Trailer for DARK WORLD 3D

3D Seems to be everywhere personally I dont see the fantastic experience's we keep hearing about, maybe I've just chosen the worst movies to sample the '3-d' experience or I just the film studio's ploy to rip us all off more especially when the standard ticket is very pricey, I'm not paying £10 plus £3 for the glasses, anyway thats off my chest! Below is the first full trailer for Russian 3D Fantasy DARKWORLD.

The movie will be the first 3D Russian movie with real actors in it which sees a group of students awake some ancient magical being whilst on a antropoligist exepidition. Confused dot com here folks there also something about a meteorite shield as well and I know I had a dig at 3d as im not yet conviced after 5 3d made movies but watching this trailer I think we can it does look better if it's in 3d instead of 2d (reality).

Trailer For Eugino Mira's Baroque thriller AGNOSIA

No comments:

source BloodyDisgusting
I've been waiting agonisingly for some new trailers to post on my blog, and we get this little beauty! Below is a teaser trailer for Spanish movie AGNOSIA which some websites are calling the next 'The Orphanage' or 'Pan's Labyrinth' well they are very close as the movie comes from the producers of those 2 movies Eugino Mira.

European Horror/thrillers especially Spanish ones over the last few years have been some of the best so when another one appears its does call out for our attention especially when the crap we see from hollywood be lucky to get 1 star (though there is a few good horror/thrillers in the indie movie scene).

If you like your movies dark, twisted, mind bending (not in the inception style), good story, beautifully shot maybe you should check out Agnosia, impressive is a word that springs to mind here.

Offical Trailer For Amir Bar-Lev's 'THE TILMAN STORY'

No comments:

source Yahoo
The Weinstein Company (via Yahoo) have released the feature trailer for Amir Bar-Lev's documentary THE TILMAN STORY.
The documentary follows the life of Pat Tilman a promising American footballer who had a multi-million contract ahead of him who decides to join the army who get stationed in Afghanistan and is tragically killed. The details of how this man died (and like many other soldiers) remains a mystery and sadly his  tragic death was manipulated into a propaganda incident.
I'm not American but I have slight inkling about the story but dont know the reasons how this man who just thought it was right to do the what he beleived in serve his country was tragically killed and his death disrespected. According to other movie sites whom have seen this movie (8.5 out of 10 rating at this years sundance), it's a emtional  rollercoaster that people have to see.
Sounds like another governmental cover-up, the documentary is going to get a cinematical release in USA on August 20th, as for UK or Ireland there is no word but depending on its sucess stateside we may see a limited release.

Yo!Saigon! Trailer for Hip Hop drama ELECTRIC SAIGON

No comments:

source TwitchFilm
Saigon Electric is the new indie drama from The Owl and the Sparrow director Stephane Gauger.
Gauger is a big fish in the arthouse-indie cinema network and he's teamed upwith Veitnamese Chanh Phuong Films to produce the county'r first ever hip-hop musical drama which is been lined up for a mid-December release, here's Gauger's description of the movie...

In my wish of telling universal stories with a global outlook and a distinctly Vietnamese point of view, the seeds of "Saigon Electric" were planted. Continuing the themes of my first narrative feature "Owl and the Sparrow", my hope is to create a visceral landscape of the hustle and bustle in modernized Vietnam. More than half of Vietnam's current population is under the age of eighteen, born after the American War. As the doors of the West have opened up to the nation and consumerism weaves its way into the value system, youth culture is seeping onto the streets of Vietnam. Hip-hop, graffiti artists, and punk rock are alive. My wish is to give these teenagers a voice and present to an international audience a fresh new look at the dreams and struggles of Asian youth.

A NewTrailer For Stuart Beattie's Tomorrow: When the War Began

No comments:

source FirstShowing

Stuart Beattie might not be a recognisable name to some but he's the man who wrote the scripts for the Pirates of The Carribbean movies (arrgh him you say!) and Tomorrow: When the War Began is the Australian's directoral debut.
The movie is based on books of the same name by john Marsden with a few familar faces to British viewers with Caitlin Stasey (Rachel from Neighbours), Lincon Lewis (Geoff- Home & Away) and Rachel Hurd-Wood (Soloman Kane, Dorian Gray, Peter Pan). As usual as this movie is taken from popular books i've not read these books so I would personally see the movie first then read the books so not to be over critical of every little detail, but everyone has a preference .
MGM are skint and recent news that there remake of the 1985 movie is been put on hold (probably forever as they cant get a buyer), this is probably going to be the closest you'll get to a movie very similar to Red Dawn and apart from the odd cheesy over the top action /patriotism this does look like it'll be a good fun adaptation.
No news of a British or even American release date but September the 2nd the movie will be out in Austrailia and New Zealand.

Trailer For Chinese Period Comedy-drama The Dragon and Phoenix Inn

No comments:

Source FilmSmash
There's not anything I can say on this trailer but its for Chinese/ Hong Kong period comedy THE DRAGON & PHOENIX INN, which has Richie Ren and Barbie Hsu both big names in the chinese cinema. It does look like it has plenty of kong-fu action scenes, plenty of laughs and it does last nearly 5 minutes which isnt unusal for a chinese movie.
anyway no graphics so the trailer is there instead.

Mexican sci-fi noir weirdness, trailer for LA PANTERA NEGRA

No comments:

source QuietEarth
When you think of film noir, you automatically think 1940's cinema, black&white, pulp fiction some well dressed beautiful woman smoking throw in a bit a bit weirdness as well. Well LA PANTERA NEGRA has all that plus some flying saucers, science fiction pulp thrown in to make it one hell of a weird movie, but do you know what? we do love what we see here.
Shame is i'll probably not end up getting a chance to see it as 'i'm only a blogger nothing more' as a snobbish head up his backside reporter told me at Glasgow Film Festival.

I dont have much information on this little short, but Vermin is an excellent 22 minute short from actor/director Dean Francis . This dude did alot of work in Australia despite been born up north in Newcastle, but I have to say im utterly impressed, as an artist you create something to express yourself and this little short express Francis talent to create something off the wall which will disturb but will also get you enjoying the whole thing as well.
Vermin is shot in grey montone which gives the whole movie a very dystopian feel, all I can really say is watch and enjoy!!!

The UK Trailer For Adam Green's FROZEN

No comments:

 source Thepeoplesmovies
One of my highlights of 2010 was the press access I got to the Glasgow Film festival, a chance to watch a diverse range of movies and one of those was Adam Green’s FROZEN.

Green is better known for his modern day slasher movie Hatchet (Hatchet 2 will be the closing movie of London Frightfest in London this august) but Frozen is a perfect example creating a low budget movie using a simple idea and creating some intense as well at time pyschological. This maybe a horror-thriller movie but is an example any budding movie makers should take note of.

Green was meant to be there in person at the screening in Glasgow but he got snowed under and got stuck in a new york airport so his good friend Tim Sullivan director of 2001 Maniacs:Field of Screams (movie which was shown after frozen) did the honours.

Below is the trailer for Travis Ainley's debut movie THE CHESTER KIDS and theres not alot of information on this movie. What I do know of the movie its about Stu who is bored of life and what he was doing he returns home during the summer to try start a new life or at least try discover what path life is taking him. When he returns home he meets up with friends and family and the route of his life he discovers is not the route he or his loved ones really want him to take.
Wonderful cinematography and the look of the film will attract people to the movie.

UK Trailer For Sylvain Chomet’s Animated Feature THE ILLUSIONIST

No comments:

source ThePeoplesMovies
Tomorrow Evening in Edinburgh the oldest film festival in the world kicks off, only been 1 hours drive away I’m kicking myself that I couldn’t get my press passess plus the movies I want to see are full, but my work abroad saw I didnt get things sorted. The opening movie will be an animated one and below is the UK Trailer for the movie called ‘The illusionist‘ created by Sylvain Chomet.
Chomet’s visual style is just delightful like the old watercolour/pen drawing traditional style, the storytelling is great as well very inspired by the Great Jacques Tati like his movies Mr Hurlot’s Holiday, just angry I wont be able to see it as well.

The story of the movie is the illisionists are a ‘dying breed’ of entertainer’s been replaced by the in your face rock stars and the main protaganist of the movie meets one of his young fans and his life changes, delightfully simply but very charming.

Sony Classics will be releasing the movie via the cinemas stateside probally in the autumn as for UK or Ireland there’s no news yet.

New Trailer For Sofia Coppola's SOMEWHERE

No comments:

source ThePeoplesMovies
In 2004 Sofia Coppola was hot property with her fantastic award winning Lost In Translation, roll on a few years it was a downward spiral with Marie Antoinette which was simply dull & lacklusture. So now 2010 we have SOMEHWERE her new flick with Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning which looks like she’s back on familar territory (also back with American Zoetrope Films the studio who created the movie).
Ok what she did on Lost in Translation she may never exactly copy the same sucess but she can emulate some of that magic she created and watching the trailer does have that indie sense of feeling whilst watching along with a very laidback soundtrack. Nice to see Stephen Dorff as a leading man again he aint a Bill Murray but this movie may just help him get noticed for some better movies in the near future. Is this movie Coppola back her best form or will it be another bites the dust?

Somewhere will be out stateside December 22nd, no UK/Irish release date yet and the movie also has Benico Del Toro & Michelle Monagan making an appearance as well. Check the trailer out after the break....

Source Wildgrounds &TwitchFilm
There's only so many remake's one can get excited about in the era of virtually every new movie is a remake, prequel of an old one 13 ASSASSINS is one we're rather excited about.
The updated version has been directed by Takashi Miike  (audition, ichi the killer)and  has been described as the 'dirty dozen set in the samuri era', well thats enough to get me excited about it! When the movie is already a classic and with quite a few of the most inspirational movies of all time coming from the land of the rising sun, you'll have to tread on thin ice not to be disrespectful to the original but also pay homage but add your touch as well.

A group of assassins come together for a suicide mission to kill an evil lord.

The movie will be out in Japan September 25th and is sure to be a massive hit, so check out the new teaser trailer after the break plus the first full trailer which came out the week before as well...

International Trailer For THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE

source ThePeoplesMovies
Back at the start of March I posted the Trailer for The Girl Who Played With Fire (Flickan som lekte med elden) the follow up to The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo and now the movie has a UK realease date below is the international trailer for the same movie.
The movie has been pencilled in for a August 27th UK/Irish cinematical release with Noomi Rapace (Salander) and Mikael Nyqvist (Michael Bloomkvist) reprising there roles once more. I havent seen the first movie but I beleive there could be the minor things could spoil this one, but nothing big though.
The second movie sees Slanader & Blomkvist return back to the Millenium to expose a suspected sex trafficking ring and with 2 reasearchers murdered Salander is framed becoming the Polices cheif suspect. Not convinced Bloomkvist searches for the fleeing Salander to get the truth but on that quest Salander unveils a few of her own dark secrets.
Once again Im unsure reading the 3 books of this trilogy before checking out the movies so I can have a opened mind when I do see the movies.,I’ve did it with The Road and I have more admiration for the movie now. What I’ve read about this movie it is a very solid strong film possibly not as good as movie one but good enought to check out. The first movie is going to get the hollywood remake treatment with Se7en henchmen David Fincher directing, so Im sure this movie will follow suit as with the last movie The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest which came out this year in its native Sweden.

About 20  years ago its summer morning I get up switch on television I watch this animation which  just stunned me, beautifully drawn, well crafted story which memorised me and it wasn't until about 10 years later did I realise that animation I was watching was Laputa:Castle In The Sky. That day I woke up to Japanese animation and the magic of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.
Anytime Anything new from Studio Ghibili is always worth a look and even when someone asks me 'Disney or Ghibili?' always Ghibli! Earlier in the year I posted the first teaser for Karigurashi No Arrietty (The Borrowers) and now another teaser trailer has appeared online. The movie is based on Mary Norton's The Borrowers classic story and the story is based around a family of tiny people who live hidden in a normal humansize house  surviving of 'borrowed' or discarded items.

The Man From Nowhere Teaser Trailer - A New Action hero is born?

1 comment:

source TwitchFilm
The Man From Nowhere  is a new and upcoming action thriller from South Korea whichshould be out in its native Korea late summer if not before end of 2010. For many years the South Korea cinema as in big budget action movies has been dominated by a few actors like Kwon Sang Woo or Song Kang-Ho so the industry has been crying out for some new blood and with The Man From Nowhere it looks like they have found there man in Won Bin  whom in the west may know from the fantastic Madeo (Mother) which is finally getting a release cinematically in UK.
Won Bin has been around for a little while on the acting front but as they say all good actors/actress have to start somewhere and build that reputation up and the big parts will come to you and it looks like this will be Bin's window of opportunity!

Alex Nakone's Horror Short MR.MORAG'S HELICAL DREAM'S

No comments:

source QuietEarth
Cloning has been a very sensitive subject some people see the advantages of cloning when all other options have been used whilst others are against it simply down to its ethical morals. If you think about it some surgery we already use artifical body parts/limbs (heart, knee, hips, etc...) but over the years the cloning of a living human or animal has raised the biggest issues. It's been done in the movies like in the island where the clones end up having the sense of whats going on, so maybe thats one of the issues would clones be better than the real thing? We could go on forever.
Mr Morag's Helical is a short movie by Alexander Nakone which looks at the thought of a human receiving cloned human body parts. The acting aint fantastic it's the messege of the film, if you where on death's door and the only way to cure you was using cloned human body parts what would you do?

The International Trailer For Spanish Thriller HIERRO

No comments:
source Trailer Addict
Hierro  first caught my attention when I was working on my other blog the Peoples Movies doing a article on last years Film4 Frightfest in which the movie was part of the line up.
There was very little information apart from a short synopsis there was positive chatter about the movie as it came from the producers behind Pan's Labyrinth & The Orphange, the movie simply dissappeared of the face of the earth.
Now nearly a year on after its release in its native Spain Hierro is getting a limited UK release on 18 June and after the break you can check out the international trailer for the movie.
You cant argue but some of the best intense horror/thrillers  movies in the past few years has come from Spain everything from Pan's Labyrinth, Orphange right up to [REC] franchise  which has brought a fresh look at the zombie genre. You'll get the intensity but also the dark edginess, the thrills and spill you expect from a horror flick and even though Hierro has been rated the dreaded 12A do expect shocker.

I'll admit I never really took this movie seriously, the cheesiness level was massive but I said to myself I'm forgeting one of the reasons I started this blog: to cover the weird, funny and wonderfull movies out there and Norwegian Ninja is one of them.
This movie comes from the producer of the excellent zombie nazi movie Dead Snow so this should have been my que to check the movie but here I am! These guys have a sense of humour that gives you the impression they dont care there just having fun and good on them, there's just too many serious people out there.
If you love your old school martial arts (ala 1970-80's) flicks mixed in with a barrell load of cold war frolics, 'amazing' special effects and enough cheese to use to make cheese & toast for the entire universe check out this movie.
I dont know if this will get a theatrical release in UK but the worldwide coverage this movie has got hopefully it will get some sort of limited releaseif not it'll be straight to dvd.

The movie is due out in its Native Norway on August 13th, check out the trailer after the break....

We Still Love our Zombie Flicks! Check this out, DARKEST DAY trailer

As Zombie movie legend George Romero has just released another zombie flick, many critics/fans are saying maybe he should stop creating zombie flicks as the qaulity seems to diminish movie by movie. Maybe some say the genre is tired and boring, though I never hear anyone complain about the vampire genre which does seem to be busting with constant movie and tv shows but no one seems to complain. With a little imagination using some of the basic musts for a genre like zombies you can come up with some fantastic and even original and DARKEST DAY is definately a perfect example of a good zombie flick.
You have your elements of old school zombies along with the new school fast running undead, elements of 28 days later and most of all its British!!! Yeah here in UK we dont really have a gun culture its more knifes so less redneck more chav, but you can expect the redneck type splatting you got in dawn of the dead.
Cinehouse UK gives these guys the thumbs up and supports the small independant movie producers, but these are passionate people who have created a dark thrilling movie in no budget. According to their website they are in post production and are looking for distributors, I do hope they get a distributor great effort guys!!!

A First Look At District 9's Sharlto Copley's directorial debut SPOON

Sharlto Copley broke into hollywood movies in 2009 as the lead character of District 9 soon we will also see him playing murgdock in the 2010 movie version of the classic 1980's tv show A-Team, but Copelys ambitions where not always to be in front of the camera.
Copley actually started life in film as a producer but just like alot of peoples dreams they take a different direction sometimes in the wrong way but alot of times in the right direction and you could say Copely has went in the right way. Yes he may have made more of a name for himself for the few movies he has appeared in but with that stardom it can help you go back and make things possible you wanted to do previously and now we have SPOON.
The movie has been described as:

"thriller with supernatural overtones about a man with a medical condition that causes him to black out during moments of extreme stress and leads him to make a remarkable discovery about himself"
Spoon is played by British tv star Daniel Boyd (Green Wing, ReGenisis, Smack The Pony) with the legendary Rugter Hauer playing his dad Victor.
The movie has been in production for a while but finally its at the stage can start to enjoy or at least understand what the movie is all about. After the break you can watch the first teaser trailer, not much happens but enough to get you interested in following the trailers to make sense of the movie.
