The First Trailer for Kar Wai Wong's THE GRANDMASTERS (Yut doi jung si)

No comments:
sourceTwitch
When you sometimes talk to so called 'movie fans' about world cinema I just love the reaction they give, its all the same, the yawning expression, not interested, why? "Its Boring " "why?, its in subtitles!". What they meant there lazy and will only watch it when its either dubbed or be destroyed by a mediocre hollywood remake. I admit for a few years I was like that but now ive opened my eyes and I see some wonderfull movies so diverse in styles, decents stories,etc...
Today I clocked the new teaser trailer for Wong Kar Wai's The Grandmasters and going by what we see in this teaser trailer its fuel for those foreign movie haters. Okay that maybe a tad niave as this movie isnt even out in its homeland China yet (February 2011 according to Imdb), so it is expected to be in its native language only. When a Wong Kar Wai movie is coming out you tend to take notice of it, but he seems to let himself down a bit with his heavy handing of lengthy  post productions and endless reliance on orchastrated set pieces. If youlove calligraphy you like this trailer as its all in traditional style Chinese writing but dont expect any any looks at what the movie has to offer as theres none at the moment.
Like the source of this post I agree dont be surprise if this appears at Cannes!

Teaser Trailer For HIGH KICK GIRL (Hai kikku gâru!)

No comments:
sourceNipponCinema
I got a little confused on exactly when this was made and speaking to a few friends who follow Japanese Movies/Culture passionitely they told this wasn't out yet and there right. HIGH KICK GIRL (Hai kikku gâru!) stars Rina Takeda  and as far as if this is a reboot or sequel, its hard to telll as there little info on the movie apart from “A girl’s revenge, born in Yokohama”, and the story revolves around a black belt which once belonged to a legendary karate master named Soujirou Kurenai and has since been passed down through generations of his family. 200 years later, a battle over the belt begins in Yokohama.
One thing we can see, she maybe a schoolgirl but you dont mess around with her or she'll kick your ass!!! Honestly theres not much I can say on this movie apart from its release in Japan will be February 25th 2011 and you can check out out a teaser trailer from the movies new distributor after the break....

Trailer for John Woo's REIGN OF ASSASSINS

No comments:

Source Twitch
Since John Woo decided to move back into the Hong Kong/Chinese movie market I feel a sense of confidence, happiness, a man back on form. Woo'smovie seem to have moved back up to the top where they belong and he is a fine example that Hollywood isn't the dreammaker many filmakers & actors see Hollywood as. Its dogeatdog world and if you hack it on the first attempt and keep the momentum going dreams turn to knightmares.
Bought Red Cliff last week on DVD and if you give me anything set in China when chivlary is in order with John Woo behind the lens Im sold! Here is the first trailer for REIGN OF ASSISSANS which Woo co-directs and produce, proper old school here! The movie is currently in pos-tproduction but what we do know is that Weinstein Company have the American rights so we can expect a release in UK too! Yesss!!!

Movie stars Michelle Yeoh, Woo-sung Jung, Barbie Hsu, Kelly Lin and Shawn Yue, trailer after the break...

The Way Of The Fjord! Norwegian Ninja Theatrical Trailer is Upon Us!!!

No comments:
  source Screened
I'll admit I never really took this movie seriously, the cheesiness level was massive but I said to myself I'm forgeting one of the reasons I started this blog: to cover the weird, funny and wonderfull movies out there and Norwegian Ninja is one of them.
This movie comes from the producer of the excellent zombie nazi movie Dead Snow so this should have been my que to check the movie but here I am! These guys have a sense of humour that gives you the impression they dont care there just having fun and good on them, there's just too many serious people out there.
If you love your old school martial arts (ala 1970-80's) flicks mixed in with a barrell load of cold war frolics, 'amazing' special effects and enough cheese to use to make cheese & toast for the entire universe check out this movie.
I dont know if this will get a theatrical release in UK but the worldwide coverage this movie has got hopefully it will get some sort of limited releaseif not it'll be straight to dvd.

The movie is due out in its Native Norway on August 13th, check out the trailer after the break....

Looking like the movie is scheduled for a May5th release in Thailand as for the rest of the world it might get some sort of coverage through certain cinemas if not on the small screen via DVD.

New teaser for Jun-Ik's LIKE THE MOON ESCAPING FROM THE CLOUDS

No comments:
source TwitchFilm
It was the movie name that caught my attention LIKE THE MOON ESCAPING FROM THE CLOUDS by Korean director Jun-IK Lee. The movie is an martial arts drama and when you do see the poster as well as the trailer you will automatically will think of Zaitochi as the main protaganist in the movie is a blindman with a sword. There will be some inspiration from the Japanese story but according this trailers source the inspiration comes from a Korean Manwha a type of Korean comicstrip/manga.
Martial arts movies do have a international appeal and Jun Ik Lee wants to get more recognition for his work outside Asia and with this he has a good chance of soing so. He has already had a financial success with Wang-ui namja (The King And The Clown) now he wants worldwide recognition.

Theatrical trailer for Thai Epic BANG RAJAN 2

Trying to get information for this was very hard, it was easier to get blood from a stone, anyway Below is the theatrical trailer for Thai epic historical movie Bang Bajan 2.
The first movie came out nearly 10 years ago in December 2000 and was about a true story about a Thai Village despite been out numbered sucessfully held off an foreign invasion, this is brutal, violent and movie 2 has the 'qaulities' of movie also had. If this movie was released  a few months later it may have got more international recognition as Ong Bak was released and gained international success well its now ten years on hopefully it will get the sucess an overseas fanbase it deserves.

Trailer for Thai-Action Drama IN THE SHADOW OF THE NAGA

No comments:

source Twitchfilm
In Thailand they've caused a bit of an issue on ratings of films shown and made in there country especially alot of bad/negative comments. Like any new laws theres always loosers but there is also alot of winners and the trailer below NAK PROK (In The Shadow Of The Naga).
The movie is set in a Bhuddist Monastery which has been built over where alot of money or treasure was buired. In order to retrieve the loot 3 criminals must enter the monastery as monks. Thailand is an very passionate country about religion and Bhuddism especially and in this film there is scenes of violence against the monks as well as scenes of the criminals been ordained as monks and a few years ago this would have been a big no no and the movie would have been banned. You think about it anywhere where religion which is a big part of peoples lives or anything sensative which was protrayed violently would be cut big style or even banned.
The movie has been given a 20+ rating which is a bit of an weird rating but then again in some states in USA you have to be 21 to drink alcohol legally. I wonder if On Golden Pond was released would it get a 65+ rating???

here's the trailer in english subtitles:

Tony Jaa's ONG BAK 3 teaser trailer

No comments:

sources We Are Movie Geeks

I'd be honest and say I've never seen a Tony Jaa movie, so what Ong Bak 1 & 2 (which was just out a few months ago!) is about I couldnt tell you. What I do know about Tony he is one the leading actors in Martial Arts movies, he mixes styles creating his own unique brand.
Dont expect much plot or even talking to that matter, but thats not in a nasty way about the movie. The techinical ability of this guy is unbelievable and his fighting skills do all the talking. Watching the trailer below is like watching a music video but once again its not a criticism, its just Tony Jaa. As for what the plot is I dont actually know but if youve seen movie two it is a continuation of how things ended, as ive been told.

Movie three is out in Thailand this April, enjoy the trailer....
