Matt McCormick's SOME DAYS ARE BETTER THAN OTHERS Trailer
source QuietEarth
We all have those days that are better than others, Ive not had many great days the past year, always start happy and end in tears. Below is the directoral debut for Matt McCormick with Some Days Are Better Than Others.
This is an strong indie drama about an "exploration, emptiness, human connection and abandonment while observing an interweaving web of awkward characters who maintain hope by inventing their own forms of communication and self-fulfillment." as described on QuietEarth. The trailer looks rather depressing but from the online commertary for the movie it's not really that dull, but a very character driven piece of work.
The movie also stars exS;eater Kinney guitarist Carrie BrownsteinandShins singer James Mercer giving the film a nice extra indie touch. Sundance Festival has just finished and so everyone moves onto the next big one, well to me it would be Berlin but to some its SXSW festival an major music, film and multimedia festival in Austin Texas, U.S.A and this movie will be part of the line up with Cyrus, McGruber, Lebanon and Kick-Ass.

Trailer for Thai-Action Drama IN THE SHADOW OF THE NAGA
source Twitchfilm
In Thailand they've caused a bit of an issue on ratings of films shown and made in there country especially alot of bad/negative comments. Like any new laws theres always loosers but there is also alot of winners and the trailer below NAK PROK (In The Shadow Of The Naga).
The movie is set in a Bhuddist Monastery which has been built over where alot of money or treasure was buired. In order to retrieve the loot 3 criminals must enter the monastery as monks. Thailand is an very passionate country about religion and Bhuddism especially and in this film there is scenes of violence against the monks as well as scenes of the criminals been ordained as monks and a few years ago this would have been a big no no and the movie would have been banned. You think about it anywhere where religion which is a big part of peoples lives or anything sensative which was protrayed violently would be cut big style or even banned.
The movie has been given a 20+ rating which is a bit of an weird rating but then again in some states in USA you have to be 21 to drink alcohol legally. I wonder if On Golden Pond was released would it get a 65+ rating???

Trailer for Irish post apocalyptic movie DITCHING
source QuietEarth
Below is the trailer for Northern Irish Arthouse drama called DITCHING. The movie is set in a post apocalyptic Northern Ireland where the Ulster is a dangerous fuedal and depopulated land, full of decaying towns with primative techonolgy. The people are confused and have also forgotten there troubled pasts and improvise ceremovies and games but still give no comfort to the world around them that makes them feel threatened but have no idea what awaits them at the end of the journey.
The movie was directed by an art collective from Belfast called Factotum and was their first venture into film making. Wasnt a high budget affair but still it is an noble first attempt and one Northern ireland 's independant cinema would be proud of.
