Trailer for Irish post apocalyptic movie DITCHING
source QuietEarth
Below is the trailer for Northern Irish Arthouse drama called DITCHING. The movie is set in a post apocalyptic Northern Ireland where the Ulster is a dangerous fuedal and depopulated land, full of decaying towns with primative techonolgy. The people are confused and have also forgotten there troubled pasts and improvise ceremovies and games but still give no comfort to the world around them that makes them feel threatened but have no idea what awaits them at the end of the journey.
The movie was directed by an art collective from Belfast called Factotum and was their first venture into film making. Wasnt a high budget affair but still it is an noble first attempt and one Northern ireland 's independant cinema would be proud of.

Space Cadet time for ZONAD
source QuietEarth
Greeting Earthlings I am Zonad and here is my trailer. Zonad is a comedy from Ireland from John Carney who also co wrote it with his Brother Keiran. The movie follows a "alien" from a planet far far away in a glaxay far far away who visits a small Irish community of Ballymoran. His visit coincides with a recent sighting of a rare comet which makes the localfolks very gulliable to think he really is a alien rather than Liam a recent rehab escapee.
This does look funny but some Irish people maybe a little offended as it does tend to make the Irish look stupid. It is lighthearted and it has been created by an Irishman so no blame can go on non-irish people, though I can understand been scottish we can be prone to the odd pisstake from non-scottish people. They just like to "sterotype" and think all people from certain countries all talk, look the same, after a while you just have to take it on the chin!
Zonad will be out in Irish cinemas from March.
Trailer for Koji Wakamatsu's Kyatapirâ
source TwitchFilm
The Berlin Film Festival is only a few days away and amgry I never took the chance cover the festival via this blog (I may try). This is Europe's first major film festival of the year and usually one that many film distributors try tie up deals for there European audiences.
Below is the trailer for Kyatapirâ (Caterpillar) by Japanese director Koji Wakamatsu and the movie is based on a short story called "Imomushi" by author Rampo Edogawa. The story is about a soldier who returns home a mutli-amputee looking at TwitchFilm's post this movie does seem very faithfull to the original story. Director Wakamatsu has in the past been infamous for including his political stance in many of his movies, unfortunately I could n't say if true or what political stance he has, but looking at the trailer possibly very working class maybe even anti-war.
