Alot of people may not recognise who Stellan Skarsgard is, some of you may recognise him but may not remember what he was in. You may know him as Bootstrap Bill from Pirates of Carribbean (Wil Turner aka Orlando Bloom's screen dad) or even again as Bill from Mama Mia... aagh that guy!!!

Well he is an established actor and does alot of movies in Hollywood as well as his native tongue (well scandanavian) and here's the first trailer for his latest En ganske snill mann (A Somewhat Gentle man). The movie sees him play Ulrik a man whose just out of jail after doing 12 years for killing his wife and now out he considers either trying to reconcile with his family or go after the people who stitched him up.

Reading the synopsis from IMDB he's not a gentle man and this comedy Ill expect to have a bit of violence in it as it could be either a revenge movie or simply a reconcilation flick which could bring a few metal wounds.

The movie has been directed by
Hans Petter Moland who has been regarded as the "Ridley Scott of Norway"  though not as prolific and definitely still unknown on the international circuit though with Stellan Skarsgard (soon to be father of Thor in Kenneth Brannagh's THOR) in the movie that could all change.
Movie out in Norway on March 19th

Last year we had Deadset  UK's homage to Big Brother with zombies waiting for the contestants when they finish, a few days ago we got another spin on the Big Brother with the Coatian The Show Must Go On. And now the Turks have got in on the game with EV when a simliar type of Big Brother type show is stopped dramtically when a gunman takes the contestants hostage creating a reality hell!!!

Wow! Even though I'm glad of not having to put up with Big Brother no more its actually great we are seeing different movies/tv dramas based of the show which actually spin off the idea of how pathetic but how true to life of Big Brother is watching you.

EV is actually the name of the famous Turkish national television channel the fictional show is based on and this movie comes from the brothers Alper & Caner Özyurtlu in their directoral debut and at the looks of QuietEarth post these brothers are highly thought of in Turkey and going with what we see from the teaser Im not surprised.

Below is an trailer with English subtitles and you wont have to wait long to see this if your from Turkey as its released nationwide on February 26th.

Cigarette (Girls) Do Kill

Not much I can say about the trailer for this arthouse fantasyesque movie. Its the future 2035 to be precise and based around Cori Dials character of Cigarette Girl.
Back early to mid last century you could go to a theatre, cinema, dance hall and you would always find the cigarette girls with there tray of cancerous kill sticks for sale. Well this is the future where smoking is completely banned apart from the smoking section, read the long synopsis from Imd and written by the movies director John Michael McCarthy:

Synopsis: In the near future laws against smoking have increased to the point where you must live in a certain part of town called the Smoking Section if want to smoke cigarettes. Once you have passed the line of demarcation you just know you've crossed the tracks because things get a little grimier, a little more industrial. The sky is a little blacker. The mood is heavier. Someone might get hurt. Cigarettes now cost $63.49 a pack, yet the money derived from this tax obviously isn't going toward this dystopian corner of the city. If you travel there to smoke or to buy (because it is also illegal to buy on the 'clean' side of town) there are several options, but the main place is the Vice Club. There you will find old fashion Cigarette Girls like our heroine with no name. The Vice Club was actually a cigarette factory built in 1935 and designed by the very best deco influenced architects. The original owners even installed a giant 50 foot long Iron cigarette on top of the building that tipped into an gigantic ashtray. One hundred years later that cigarette is cancer coated with rust but still tilts back and forth - if the wind is strong enough, making a horrible squeak on it's axis that is heard through out the city. Cigarette Girl becomes an angel of death when she stops smoking and starts killing on the third day to alleviate her acute psychological withdrawal manifested primarily by the ghost of a cowboy who is always on her back to keep smoking. Cigarette Girl would rather kill than smoke. - IMDB

There's lots of connection nowdays with smoking and prices of cigarettes so you may relate to this. No idea of release date or  where you'' see it, expect Film festivals especially ones which show more alternative movies.
