I wonder if Robert is a Michelin? April 1st (USA) will see the release of Quentin Dupieux's comedy horror RUBBER stateside and if you can make sense of this movie you're doing better than many who have tried....
The release date makes you think this is a April Fools joke however Dupieux movie has been gathering a cult following and Magnet Releasing has picked up on the popularity hence the cinematic release.
Rubber is the story of Robert an abandoned rubber tire dumped in a American desert who suddenly is gifted with the power of telepathy and seems to gain a pyshotic revengeful mind, killing small desert animals eventually onto killing police and women in showers (ala pyscho style!). It looks like one of those movies that any sane person who goes to it must be thinking to themselves "Why am I Here?", however the movie did do the tour of last years festival network including Cannes and did receive positive reviews.
No word on any cinematical release in UK or Ireland but your best bet is probably through the film festival network in the Uk&Ireland.
[update 20 jan 2011] - great news for British movie goers last night I attended the Press launch of Glasgow Film Festival (17-27 feb) and thanks to the Frighfest gang Rubber will be playing in at the festival on saturday 26th February (1400) go to Glasgow Film Festival site for details

Synopsis
RUBBER is the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly and inexplicably comes to life. As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses terrifying telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes without having to move. At first content to prey on small desert creatures and various discarded objects, his attention soon turns to humans, especially a beautiful and mysterious woman who crosses his path. Leaving a swath of destruction across the desert landscape, Robert becomes a chaotic force to be reckoned with, and truly a movie villain for the ages. Directed by legendary electro musician Quentin Dupieux (Steak, Nonfilm), aka Mr. Oizo, RUBBER is a smart, funny and wholly original tribute to the cinematic concept of no reason.source Apple
