When I said Olsen sisters I wasn't talking about Mary- Kate & Ashley the gruesome twosome but Elizabeth who looks to have the brains of all the sisters and going on the word from Cannes, Sundance festival its a breakout performance worthy of some merit.Olsen plays a young woman who after years brainwashed to an cult flees and tries to reconnect with her family but is having trouble doing so. As she tries to get grips of reality we discover she is damaged by experiences that forced her to flee home joining the cult in the first place, memories of that past still haunt her dishing out a healthy dose of Paranoia.
One of the highlights of the previous trailers is the performance of John Hawkes (Winters Bone) as the creepy violent cult leader who essentially brings a disturbing psychological edge to the film which should earn the actor a few nomination when the awards season arrives. Compared to all the trailers the UK one does offer a slightly better look at the movie highlighting the movies dark edge along with Olsen's acting talents too.
Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene will be next seen at this months Toronto Film Festival, but here in UK& Ireland we'll have to wait until 3rd February 2012 to see this, American cinephiles can catch this next month when its released October 21st. The movie also stars Sarah Paulson, Hugh Dancy,Christopher Abbott, Maria Dizzia, Louisa Krause, Julia Garner and Brady Corbet.
