Friday 4th December sees the release of GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE in UK & Ireleand. Directed by Ocean's 11/12/13 & Informant director Steven Soderbergh it is probably the director's most low budget independent movie to date. Despite been in the more mid-higher term for low budget movie it is following the recent trend of movies with little or no income and been sucessful (but not as successful as Paranormal Activity) or at least good box office sales, a sign of a movie been created with the right man/woman in the director's seat.
The main star of the movie is Sasha Grey an ex-porn star who has trekked over the San Fernando Valley into the glitz and glamour of a mainstream hollywood, which with evidence of the movie she has done quite successfully. Sasha Grey plays a high class Manhattan call girl offering a "Girlfriend experience" to her clients and this movie a slow and deep account of call girl's life though this may not appeal to all .
Screenrush recently caught up with Sasha and had a chat about her new movie and her transition from porn to mainstream acting as well as acting for Steven Soderbergh;
Synopsis:
Chelsea (Sasha Grey) is a high-priced $2,000-an-hour call girl in Manhattan, offering a 'girlfriend experience': she'll dress with the client in mind, go to dinner and a movie, listen attentively to talk about work and finances, and she'll provide sex. It's October, 2008: a presidential election nears and the economy is in free fall. She has a boyfriend, Chris (Chris Santos), who's a personal trainer. We are shown five non-consecutive days in Chelsea's life. She's working on her Web page, talking to image consultants, and being interviewed by a reporter. She asks clients when their birthdays are and uses that for an astrological prediction. She's drawn to a new client, a writer from L.A. Should she break her rules for him? What if it risks her relationship with Chris? Should she invest in gold? - IMDB
