Maxime Giroux’s Jo for Jonathan (Jo pour Jonathan)a movie that premiered at December's Whistler Film festival is getting a theatrical release on March 18th. This moody sombre tale of two brother at odds with each other which also follows their lives and giroux goes for a minimalistic approach which works perfrectly for this movie. The highlight of the movie is the performance of RaphaĆ«l Lacaille and according to Quietearth he is an actor we should look out for in the future and for his troubles taking home best actor award at Whistler Film Festival.
The movie reminds me a little of Susanne Biers Brothers but more the sibling rivalary than a love of another woman. When it comes to independent movies the French speaking part of Canada seem to produce the better movies at the moment, sorry guys this is only in French.
