The Offical Trailer For MEEKS CUTOFF Starring Michelle Williams And Bruce Greenwood

Im just back in from watching probably the best revenge movie Ive seen a heck of a long time I Saw The Devil at The Glasgow Film Festival and one of the frustrations of the festival is picking what movies to see and what movies to leave out when schedules clash. One of those movies Im regretting not seeing is Kelly Reichardt’s  MEEK’S CUTOFF.The indie movie is probably on its last qaurter of touring the festivals and its a movie that caught my eye since Toronto Film Fest last year and every where its played its left with fantastic reviews and its time for the movie to have a general release and tonight the offical trailer is with us.
The movie tells the tale of Stephen Meek a renknowned trapper & guide who famously guided an ill-fated contingent of wagons on a shortcut through Williamette Valley along to Oregon Trail to Meek’s Cuttoff. Stephen Meek is played by an unrecognisable Bruce Greenwood who looks like a grizzly Adams crossed with ZZ Top.
With the Coen Brothers making Western movies very trendy again dont expect all guns blazing here, Meek’s Cuttoff is a slow burning drama when demands your observational skills rather than edge of the seat action fest. The does have very strong performances with everyone involved backed with superb cinematography many beleiving if released earlier could have been in the running for some oscar nomination
The movie also co-stars Michelle Williams, Shirley Henderson, Zoe Kazan, Paul Dano and Will Patton and the movie will get a cinematic release in UK & Ireland From April 15th.
The year is 1845, the earliest days of the Oregon Trail, and a wagon team of three families has hired the mountain man Stephen Meek to guide them over the Cascade Mountains. Claiming to know a short cut, Meek leads the group on an unmarked path across the high plain desert, only to become lost in the dry rock and sage. Over the coming days, the emigrants must face the scourges of hunger, thirst and their own lack of faith in each other’s instincts for survival. When a Native American wanderer crosses their path, the emigrants are torn between their trust in a guide who has proven himself unreliable and a man who has always been seen as the natural enemy.
