UK Trailer For Cannes 2010 Hit movie LOVE LIKE POISON (Un poison violent)

It was one of the big hitters at 2010 Cannes Film Festival and May 13th LOVE LIKE POISON (Un poison violent) is coming to UK & Ireland thanks to Artifical Eye who have also sent us the trailer which you can check out below.

Love Like Poison is the debut feature film by young director Katell Quillévéré, it was part of the Director's Fortnight and tells the story Anna (Clara Augarde) who comes home from boarding school for the summer to find out her home is in a mess, her father is gone and her mother seeks consul with local priest. Anna herself's bond grows with her granddad plus local boy Pierre (Youen Leboulanger-Gourvil) in a nice summer type coming of age story. Religion and a person's faith play a big part in this movie and when it comes to religion it should never be forced on someone, let them find out themselves and Quillevere looks to have that question asked in her movie. Before you say anything Yes thats The Vega Choir with Creep the Radiohead song this movie actually came out when The Social Network was in Post Production plus the song is in the actual movie too but whoever did have it first we do like what we see in this movie and Quillevere is a director we should keep our eye on for the future!

Love Like Poison stars Clara Augarde, Lio, Michel Galabru, Stefano Cassetti, Thierry Neuvic, Youen Leboulanger-Gourvil.

A coming-of-age drama which skillfully combines sexual frankness with a captivating sense of innocence, first-time director Katell Quillévéré's charming Love Like Poison was a surprise, yet deserved, critical hit at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.

Anna, a young teenager, comes home from her Catholic boarding school for the holidays and discovers her father has left. Her mother is devastated and confined in the company of the local priest, who is also a childhood friend. Anna clings to her beloved grandfather. She also grows close to Pierre, a free-spirited teenager who cares little about God. Anna is preparing for her confirmation, but her budding desire for Pierre shakes her faith. She longs to give herself over, body and soul but doesn't know if it is to God, or something else ...?

In the central role young newcomer Clara Augarde delivers a performance of immense assurance and bravery whilst the Breton landscapes are beautifully captured by cinematographer Tom Harari. An eclectic soundtrack includes English folk songs, church choirs and a choral rendition of Radiohead’s Creep. All of which is guided by a sensitivity and poise which announces writer and director Quillévéré as a bold new voice in French cinema.
