FRIGHTFEST FEATURES TO RELEASE ‘THE DEVIL DARED ME TO’ ON DVD IN UK

Chris Stapp’s gasoline-fuelled, turbo-charged story of vodka-swilling Randy Campbell and his dream of becoming New Zealand’s greatest living stuntman is set for a UK DVD release on May 23 through FrightFest Features.

THE DEVIL DARED ME TO, which screened at FrightFest, is the second title to be released through the recently created joint venture between Wild Bunch and FrightFest which will, through eOne, distribute movies within the horror genre in the UK.

The film’s director and star Chris Stapp (famous for the cult  MTV series ‘Back of the Y’)  is thrilled that FrightFest and Wild Bunch have picked up the film for the UK. He describes his mini masterpiece as “part 'small town boy dreams of following a heroic dead father but is stuck on a shit farm' (we ripped off Star Wars) and part crazy Daredevil with an insane suicidal desire to top everything that has gone before him' (we ripped off 'Devil at your Heels')”.

FrightFest’s Paul McEvoy said from Cannes: “FrightFest Features is really thrilled to be releasing this awesome genre-bender. It’s a personal festival highlight and I’m delighted a UK audience will now discover this gem for themselves”

THE DEVIL DARED ME TO is produced by Matt Heath & Karl Zohrab, written by Chris Stapp & Matt Heath, Executive Producers are Leanne Saunders, Paul Swadel & Anthony Timpson. The film was produced in association with the New Zealand Film Commission.
