Shigeru Tsuchiyama's popular manga GOKUDO MESHI (or 'Criminal Meals' ) has been turned into a live action by Tetsu Maeda ((School days with a pig) and the first offical trailer has arrived online.
The film version is set in a prison on New Year's Day when a group of cellmate paly games with each other over 'Osechi' (traditional New Year Foods) competing with each other for delicious things from each others own food by boasting the most delicious food they've ever eaten.
When you ever hear tv programmes or read books or articles which tell you about Japanese pop culture especially the comic books (Manga) when the narrator/presenter tells you there is a manga based on everything they do mean everything! This may not sound much of a engrossing story but the story has been running in Futabasha's manga anthology for 5 years now and next month (July) the 6th volume will published and when the Japanese talk about volumes they dont mean 64 pages more like thousands of pages per volume!
The movie stars Tasuku Nagaoka , Masanobu Katsumura, Shunsuke Aida, Gitaro, Akaji Maro, Fumino Kimura, and Yoji Tanaka with the movie planed for a September 23rd release in Japan.
