UK Trailer For Spanish Prison Thriller CELL 211 (celda 211)

Its a great time to be a foreign movie about to be released in UK & Ireland even North America simply down  to the high number of poor blockbuster movies been churned out. Its just a shame many of the movies will only be seen by a limited audience either due to a short cinema run or so called cinephiles with a selfish attitude they dont like movies with subtitles, but as any true cinephile knows the standard of world cinema as I like to call it is at the moment alot higher than mainstream Hollywood. One movie people should check out is Daniel Monzon's Prison riot thriller Celda 211 or CELL 211 which is heading to UK& Ireland next month for a limited cinema run.

The Goya award winning movie stars Alberto Ammann as Juan who starts his first day as a prison officer  at hell on earth prison, every one be it work, school or something new dreads the first day but spare a thought for Juan as he gets knocked out cold. Eventually he wakens up with a nice bump on his inside Cell 211 fellow officers have scuppered and left the new boy in a middle of a prison riot to fend for himself! So how do you escape and survive a riot? Become one of the inmates! Luckily no prisoners have seen Juan especially ringleader Malamadre (Luis Tosar) but how far would Juan go to survive?

The movie looks like a battleground for some moral and political subtext with some Con Air/Die Hard style testosterone action which should keep the action fans happy. This is certainly one of those 'fun movies' that should excite fast and furious fans (minus the cars), without lowering itself to dribble Van Damme and Segal are pumping out now.

CELL 211 will be released on July 15th by Optimum Releasing, check the new trailer just been released via Empire.
