The film and the fashion worlds have always been close – after all, they are both obsessed with the beautiful people. 8 July sees the release of The Princess of Montpensier, starring the face of Chanel and French style icon Gaspard Ulliel in a roaring period drama from acclaimed auteur Bernard Tavernier. The beautiful Mélanie Thierry stars as the titular princess who is forced into marriage while passionately in love with Ulliel.

Gaspard UllielOne of the very few men to have the prestigious honour of appearing on the cover of French Vogue, Gaspard Ulliel is a familiar face in the fashion world, and last year became the face of Chanel, appearing in a promotional film for the campaign directed by Martin Scorsese. He’s also an accomplished actor, having appeared alongside Audrey Tautou in A Very Long Engagement and as a young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising. His latest screen role in period drama The Princess of Montensier sees him play the rogue who steals the heart of the beautiful princess Mélanie Thierry – who is unfortunately engaged to another man for political reasons, and their love threatens war…

However, she has now hit worldwide fame by replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3, after the later was unceremoniously sacked from the fighting robot franchise. Olga KurylenkoUkraine-born Kurylenko was spotted by a scout whilst on holiday in Moscow when just 13, and by the age of 19 had appeared on the cover of both Vogue and Elle. In 2007 she was picked to the latest Bond girl in Daniel Craig’s second outing, Quantum of Solace. The fact that she was the first Bond girl from a former Soviet state caused controversy in some regions but the film was a worldwide success. Kurylenko has recently worked with recluse auteur Terrance Malick on his super-secret new project.
