In times when parents worry about what they can let their youngchildren watch without the fear some content just a little too graphic for there young eye, Studio Ghibli is a guarantee 100% family friendly. Its an exciting affair when a new Ghibli project arises as you know you are getting a magical ride into a fantastic fictional world that will be enjoyed not just by the children but their parents, they are the true ambassadors of Japanese animation worldwide with Disney been probably there biggest fans. Arrietty is based on the classic Mary Norton Childrens book ,The Borrowers the story of the tiny family no bigger than a mouse and live in a hidden in a normal humans home living off things they borrow during the night.

Its a wonderful story which has been directed by Ghibli’s youngest director Hiromasa Yonebayashi(36 years)and screen play written by the master Hayao Miyazaki. It seems there’s 2 dubbed versions in English for Arrietty which is unusual for the story but it been a story originated in UK you can see why, in the UK version Arrietty is voiced by Hanna actressSaorise Ronan with Mark Strong, Olivia Coleman,Tom Holland and for The American version we have Bridgit Mendler, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler and Carol Burnett with the American release not until February 2012 released by Disney.

Based on the classic children’s book The Borrowers, tiny 14 year old Arrietty lives under the floorboards of an old house with her father and mother. Their peaceful life is dramatically changed when the ever curious Arrietty accidentally allows herself to be seen by Sho, a poorly and lonesome 12 year old human boy. The fledgling friendship between the two lonely children causes Haru the housekeeper to become aware of the borrowers existence. The family of little borrowers are forced to choose between staying in their well-established home or leaving for the uncertainty of the great outdoors.
