Time for some feel good, boarding school romance courtesy of The Social Network/Girl With A Dragon Tattoo's Rooney Mara and first-time writer/directors Francesca Gregorini and Tatiana von Furstenberg. The film has had a tough time finding distributors since it's 2009 film festival debut, but thanks to the 26 year old lead's burgeoning stardom it has been given theatrical life thanks to Anchor Bay.
It looks to be a fairly sedate tale of forbidden love and schoolgirl cattiness, like something you'd find in an airport chick-lit novel. But there are certain comforts to be gained from material like this, and Rooney Mara is certainly a main drawing point. Americans will get a chance to see it on September 9th, but there aren't details of a UK release yet.
Tanner Hall is a vivid peek into the private world of an all-girls boarding school. In a cozy, but run down New England town, the knot of adolescent complexity is unraveled through the coming of age stories of four teen-age girls.
