When I received the press information about last weeks Frightfest Halloween all nighter one film caught my it was Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo's(A L’Interieur (Inside)) LIVID. Within seconds I thought I was about to watch a Surprisia / giallo style film then the mood, atmosphere changed drastically to a old fashioned style gothic horror ghost film which at one point I thought we had the crazy knife happy bandaged nurses from Silent Hill! Livid visually looks fantastic stylish mixing retro with modern horror which makes Livid a little more appealing as the genre can get a little stagnant with the same generic drivel constantly.
Livid tells the story A young woman and her friends break into a decrepit mansion looking for treasure, only to unlock a dark secret of unspeakable horror ready to dish out bloody punishment for their greed. No word yet if or when this film will arrive in UK &Ireland when it does its likely to be direct to DVD, the film does arrive in its native France next month 7th December, so expect 2012 sometime like the American release thats coming from Dimension Films. Livid stars Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Catherine Jacob, Béatrice Dalle, Chloé Coulloud Felix, and Moati Jeremy Kapone, check out the trailer below...
