This film has picked up a bit more attention from the mainstream cinema sites simply because who is the director,
Takashi Miike who brought us the diverse range from
Ichi The Killer,Audition,13 Assassins to
Hara Kari: Death Of A Samurai now add
Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney. This film is based on a popular Japanese video game and looking at the these 2 trailers the footage does suggest Miike has stayed true to the game's plot style, vibrant characters, outrageous things happening as it has the feel of a live action anime so anyone looking at the directors previously 2 released films here in the west will probably be gobsmacked that he would direct something as fun, silly popcorn munching no brainer. Its good to be different and in reality Miik actually came from a group of directors who created films in the style of typhoon sushi (a bit like a Japanese Troma) plus the film he made after 13 Assassins was actually a kids film Ninja Kids!
My knowledge of this game which is actually available here in UK on Nintendo DS is very slim but for now check out the 2 trailers for the film which is due out
February 2012 in Japan .
