Back in September before the London Film Festival opened we gave you the trailer for THE DEEP BLUE SEA, unfortunately that version was taken offline and today Artificial Eye have sent us the official version. The Deep Blue Sea closed the festival with some fantastic reviews and we're a little surprised that Hollywood hasn't looked back to the golden days of film for inspiration for remakes and The Deep Blue Sea is essentially your old fashioned romantic film, no comedy just pure love.
Hester Collyer (Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz) leads a privileged life in 1950s London as the beautiful wife of high court judge Sir William Collyer (Simon Russell Beale). To the shock of those around her, she walks out on her marriage to move in with young ex-RAF pilot, Freddie Page (Tom Hiddleston), with whom she has fallen passionately in love. The Deep Blue Sea is based on the Terrence Rattigan story which was originally a film from 1955 starring Vivien Leigh, Kenneth More with 2011 version Rachel Weisz along Tom Hiddleston along with Simon Russell Beale, Jolyon Coy, Karl Johnson . The Deep Blue See arrives in UK&Ireland from November 25th, check out the new poster which was sent with the trailer.
Set in post-war Britain, this adaptation of Terence Rattigan’s classic play, The Deep Blue Sea is a study of forbidden love, suppressed desire, and the fear of loneliness – but is at heart a deeply moving love story. Stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea, what - or whom - should Hester choose?
