BFI Let You Search Britain's Celluloid History For Free


You have heard about the news of BFI and the work they are collaborating with Regional Film Archive to give everyone a chance to watch and discover Britain's history through film. Look through the archive learn some amazing things about the nation's heritage making sure the 16 and 35mm films can be enjoyed by generations to come.

Heather Stewart, SHUK Programme Director and Creative Director BFI, said:

Through Screen Heritage UK the film archives of Britain have joined forces to truly take film archiving to the next level. Film is an integral part of British culture and SHUK will ensure that we not only safe-guard our film heritage for future generations but that everyone in the UK gets the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from it.”

Whether you are curious about the culture and history of your region, or are a researcher, historian or student, hundreds of thousands of records from these wonderful collections are now searchable online. Some films and clips are also available to view and these will be added to over time.
