I just love World cinema especially Asian cinema as the constraints or clichés of typical film go out the window.Comedy is a perfect example with the Japanese brand of humour could only be described as absurd, they don't care if doesn't make sense or its so stupid as long as the viewer laughs its a job done. Ikiteru Mono Wa Inai no Ka (Are You Alive? or Is There Any Survivors?) is one fine example of Japanese comedy at its absurd best. What starts out to be a straight up typical Asian teen romance suddenly explodes into a sci-fi/horror comedy , here's a brief description:
A story tinged with anarchic black comedy about the relationship between life and death, set in a college which runs a strange urban legend. With apparently normal people engage in conversations surreal, all driven by events in a daily bizarre crumble slowly ... Between a woman patient who escapes from a hospital, a love triangle between students & a server, people attending a major accident, and medical otologist in love with a nurse.Ambitious, experimental,crazy but rather good!Ikiteru Mono Wa Inai no Ka stars Shota Sometani, Rin Takanashi, Shiraishi Hakka, Mai Takahashi, Tajima Yumika, Ikenaga Ami, Kenichiro Suzuki, Keisuke Hasebe and will be released February 18th 2012 in Japan!
