I always remember a few years back I was involved in a local music scene, the bands had a distinctive sound, some followed a particular lifestyle which included them been vegetarian or vegan. Then came the hipsters who tried to take over dressed in tight jeans, mullet or emo style haircuts, black eyeliner even bringing in keyboards ended up the people who followed the music where driven out by these hipsters who virtually made the music sound like a cross between van halen and thrash death metal, personally I would hang the lot of them. I AM NOT A HIPSTER is a new low budget flick which is trying to tap into the indie (all )culture of these horrid hipsters a film which has been chosen for Sundance Festival's new section NEXT program.
Set in the indie music and art scene, this is a character-driven story exploring themes of love, loss and what it means to be creative in the face of tragedy.
The NEXT program is a section to attract lo-fi/budget film makers a section which should attract the industry hitters especially these days after the success of low/no budget films such as Paranormal Activity, keen to grab the next big thing. So could Destin Cretton's I AM NOT A HIPSTER Be that next big thing? Who knows but hey kids the film has a hipster soundtrack which you can stream at the films website .
I AM NOT A HIPSTER (the movie) from Destin Daniel Cretton on Vimeo.
