UK Trailer For THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH


If there's one novelist who looks like he could give Nicholas Sparks (The Lucky One, Dear John, The Notebook) a run for his money in recent adaptations of romantic drama's it has to be Douglas Kennedy. Whilst Nicholas Spark's adaptation's maybe a little more mills'n'boon predictable films Douglas Kennedy books take a more sophisticated arthouse route more grown up approach as well as dark mysterious edge to them like his new one THE WOMAN IN THE FIFTH.

Directed by BAFTA Award-winner Pawel Pawlikowski (My Summer of Love) which stars Ethan Hawke a college lecturer who relocates to Paris to be with his estranged wife and daughter after a scandal nearly costs him his job. Living out of a shady Parisian hotel its here he meets a mysterious woman (Kristin Scott Thomas) whom he has a affair with which kicks of a series of events that threaten his life and his daughters. The film also stars Joanna Kulig, Samir Guesmi and Delphine Chuillot.

Artifical Eye are releasing this one in UK&Ireland on February 17th and they have this afternoon sent us the official UK trailer which you can check out below.


American writer Tom Ricks (Ethan Hawke) comes to Paris desperate to put his life together again and win back the love of his estranged wife and daughter. When things don’t go according to plan, he ends up in a shady hotel in the suburbs, having to work as a night guard to make ends meet.

Then, Margit (Kristin Scott Thomas), a beautiful, mysterious stranger walks into his life and things start looking up. Their passionate and intense relationship triggers a string of inexplicable and dangerous events that threaten both Tom and his daughter… as if an obscure power was taking control of his life.
