Watch The First 5 Minutes of Steven Soderbergh's Ass-Kicking HAYWIRE

Oscar Winner Steven Soderbergh's last film Contagion may have only just left cinemas, but he's not keen on letting that dust settle. His new action-packed spy thriller Haywire, which was actually shot and completed before Contagion, sees release here in the UK on January 20. (We'll have a review here in the coming days)

In the meantime you can watch the film's action-packed first five minutes, where we're introduced to the main character Mallory (newcomer and former UFC fighter Gina Carano) whose coy smile masks a deadly handle on martial arts. It's a good indicator of the kind of blunt and forceful ass-kickery contained within the film, which plays kind of like an indie-version of Salt or Hanna.

The star studded cast also includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Fassbender, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Douglas and Channing Tatum, who you can see get beaten to a pulp below! Hang tight for our review:
