Watch the UK Trailer for The Dardenne Brothers' The Kid with a Bike

Two-time Cannes Palme d'Or recipients Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne bring their new tale of urban survival The Kid With a Bike to UK cinemas on the 23rd of March, and Artificial Eye have released a new trailer to celebrate. Dardenne favourite Jérémie Renier is back, but this time the main character is a plucky 11 year old boy who sets out on a quest to find his absent father and meets a cast of colourful characters on the way.

Despite how heartwarming that all potentially sounds, the Dardenne's are known most for their unfettered focus on people wrestling with moral and social quandaries, so it may not be the most feel-good film of Spring, but we'll reserve judgement until March. Until then check out a quick synopsis and trailer below:

Cyril (Thomas Doret), almost 12, has only one plan: to find the father (Jérémie Renier) who left him temporarily in a children's home. By chance he meets Samantha (Cécile de France), who runs a hairdressing salon and agrees to let him stay with her at weekends. Cyril doesn't recognize the love Samantha feels for him, a love he desperately needs to calm his rage.
