If you were to pick a perfect example of a recent franchise that has the 'found footage' mixing it up with some blood thirsty raging zombie style all out attack it has to go to the [REC] Franchise. Paco Plaza and Jaume Balaguero are behind the successful Spanish horror franchise and I don't know many horror fans especially ones who like their horror's zombified haven't said they didn't like this franchise it certainly gave the horror genre a refreshing kick up the backside.
We know there's 2 films back to back 3 and 4 with [REC]4 Apocalypse currently shooting with Balaguero directing looks at outbreak at the end of the world however on March 30th [REC]3: GENESIS directed by Plaza will be released in Spain looking into the origins of the outbreak how the whole saga kicked off making the first two flicks the middle!
Has the the franchise lost its spark or does the flame still burn and we're all excited at the prospect of 2 more [REC] films? Here's hoping the things that made the first films refreshing, original but most of all scary will still be there if not we might just have another generic zombie flick on our hands! Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. The reception is being held at a beautiful old stately home in the middle of the countryside. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what's happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed. Amidst the chaos, Koldo and Clara become separated and begin a desperate search for one another. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind...
