UK Trailer For Michael Winterbottom's TRISHNA

Michael Winterbottom is like Joseph and his technicolour coat or even a chameleon in film when you look at his filmography. From 24 Hour Party People , 9 songs to Killer Inside Me  and now his arthouse chops continue with TRISHNA and Artificial Eye have sent us the UK trailer for his latest film.

Starring Riz Ahmed, Frieda Pinto The film is a contemporary adaptation of the classic novel ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ by Thomas Hardy, and is set across modern day rural Rajasthan and the thriving metropolis of Mumbai.

The film made it's world première at last September at Toronto Film Festival  then November at London but at the weekend it made it's Scottish premiere at Glasgow Film Festival. Last week I was fortunate to be invited to a press screening, I've never read the original book and was a little lost on what the story was all about. Visually Winterbottom does use his location to full force though at times the class differences were a little hard differentiate and has mixed reviews from the festivals have played so far.
Trishna (Freida Pinto) meets a wealthy young British businessman, Jay Singh (Riz Ahmed), who has come to India to work in his father's hotel business. After an accident destroys her

father's Jeep, Trishna goes to work for Jay, and they fall in love. But despite their feelings for each other, their relationship must remain a secret.Their problems seem to be solved when Jay takes Trishna to an exciting new world of dance, vibrant life and possibilities - Mumbai. But Trishna harbours a dark secret that threatens the

very heart of their love affair, and inequalities remain at the centre of their relationship that will lead her to question Jay's intentions towards her.
Watch out for my review in the coming weeks and Trishna will be arriving in UK&Irish cinemas on March 9th, check out the UK trailer and new poster below.
