Cannes 2013: Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac To Use Body Doubles, Film Gets December Release

It wouldn't be a Cannes Film Festival without Lars Von Trier making his presence felt in some shape or form banned or not banned. Whilst the film as not ready to be screened at any film festival Nymphomaniac s official cast photograph was revealed to the media showing the all star cast in numerous compromising  positions.

From the image we Christian Slater kneeling before the film's protagonist Charlotte Gainsbourg whose legs are akimbo but what is Mr Slater got his eyes focused on? Naughty boy! Same can be said about Von Trier regular Willem Dafoe who has a stain in a compromising position with a pretty young lady kneeling in front of him!  One of the best ones is the director himself in the background  with his mouth taped in a joke reference to his actions at 2011 Cannes film festival.

Whilst the cat has been out the bag for a while now that Nymphomaniac is going to be a erotic themed film  , fans are curious to know if Shia Labeouf  will let it all hangout, will Uma Thruman do this or  Charlotte Gainsbourg do that? Today Producer Louise Vesth the two part film when it comes to the sex scenes body doubles will be used.

When a film that's got a softcore version as well as a hardcore version (along with a host of  well known/ mainstream actors) it was obvious some body doubling will be involved. With curiosity wondering why the film is to be  heavy on the visual effects Vesth did her best to explain to THR: "We shot the actors pretending to have sex and then had the body doubles, who really did have sex, and in post we will digital-impose the two, using double exposures and imposing words and symbols over the action as part of his storytelling.”

You could say this film is an evolution of the open scene of Antichrist which had body doubles stood in for Dafoe and Gainsbourg in the sex scenes and with Von Trier promising impressive visual effects to make us think we really are watching real sex. If you are like us thinking this film was just about sex sex, sex Vesth response was  “Lars has thrown everything in this one. It’s about religion, about God, about philosophy,”.

No word exactly on who will distribute Nymphomaniac in UK we assume it will be Artificial Eye once again like Magnolia in USA (who are confirmed). Some footage was played to potential buyers today and it was announced that the film will be released in USA on 25th December before you think if you'll be choking your brussel sproust or swallowing a chipolata whole, no UK release date has been confirmed it's looking like a early 2014 release or just before Christmas before we get a look at the highly anticipated film
