Kelly Reichardt is one of America's best independent filmmakers around delivering a big slice neo-realism and after the slow burning Meek's Cutoff , We meet Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning go dam busting in Night Moves.
We follow 3 environmental warriors Josh (Eisenberg), Dena (Fanning) and Harmone (Peter Sarsgaard) who plan to blow up a local hydro-electric dam. They want the true power to go back to nature but as their actions become fruitful the relationship between the three starts to breakdown leading to an unexpected incident.
I caught the film's UK Premiere at last month's Glasgow Film Festival on the back of been a fan of the director's 2009 film Wendy And Lucy (Michelle Williams). Night Moves style is like her other movies slow burning, suspenseful full of tension however the ending was very under whelming leaving you very disappointed. In this new trailer you do get a sense of that danger as well as the urgency and mistrust amongst our 3 protagonists.
Night Moves is getting a UK release thanks to Soda Pictures on 29th August co-starring Alia Shawkat.
