Anyone that knows me I am a massive fans of all things Asian and though I haven't reviewed much lately I am a massive fan of Japanese film and the work of Sion Sono. His depth and range of film projects is exceptional, they may not all be classic films but the likes of Suicide Club, Coldfish , the masterful Love Exposure to the underrated Himizu. Dark, cold calculated but also funny For his latest film Tokyo Tribe Sono looks Inoue Santa's manga/anime to adapt and you'll see orchestrated chaos is the name of the game.
Tokyo Tribe follows a similar theme to his previous film Why Don't You Play In Hell and what we know about the plot (via manga) the story centre's around a murder of high ranking gang member. These gangs are in a centre of a turf war to see who controls land and this been Sono film over the top crazy pandemonium is unleashed in a no holds barred fight. If you enjoy other Japanese films such as Crows Zero but with more dark humour thrown in you'll enjoy this but if your like us Sono's name does it for us!
Tokyo Tribe is getting a 30th August Japanese cinema release, there is no word on a UK release date but our suspicions that the excellent Third Window or Terracotta Distribution may release this probably sometime later this year or 2015. The film stars Young Dais,Ryuta Sato, Nana Seino, Ryohei Suzuki, Shoko Nakagawa and Riki Takeuchi.
