Swiss Arthouse Horror Chimere's New Trailer Makes Been A Vampire Sexy

There must be something in the water in Europe as the recent trend of arthouse style horror-thrillers continues to gain strength with Olivier Beguin's Chimeres the latest film to join the ranks. This afternoon we get our first glimpse at the film's trailer and finally see why it's gained so many plaudits on the festival circuit as it lines itself up for next week's Cannes Film Festival sales market.

While on holidays in Romania with his girlfriend Livia, Alexandre is hit by a car. He is rushed to the hospital where he has to undergo a blood transfusion. After all isn’t Romania the land of legendary bloodsuckers?Livia has to face Alexandre’s increasingly strange behaviour and does all she can to save their floundering relationship.

Helen Cattet and Bruno Forzani's The Strange Colour Of Your Body's Tears gave giallo some stye and cinematic beauty, Chimeres looks like it will give back vampires their sexiness once again. Ironically this film's director of Photography and Special FX  director Florian Gintenreiter & David Scherr work on Chimeres as well. The film marks the directorial debut for Swiss director Beguin who  like Xan Cassavetes Kiss Of The Damned wears their inspiration on their sleeve and hopefully we will be reviewing Chimeres in the near future when a UK release date is announced.
