It's been a while since John Woo was on our big screens and there's only one way he could return and that's to return in epic style and this December he does with The Crossing and today we get a look at not just one but 2 trailers.
The following the now hipster tradition of 2 part film The Crossing is Woo's first outing since 2008's beautifully epic Red Cliff and a film some are labeling the Chinese Titanic. It's a love story set in the back drop of China's 1940's war that went onto establish The People’s Republic of China (Taiwan)and based around the lives of three couples, love lives of these couples who where aboard the tragic sinking of the Taiping Ferry.
Melody Wang who wrote Hidden Dragon, Crouching Tiger, wrote the script for this sweeping love story that will have the boys loving the dramatic war scenes and their female partners getting emotional at the matters of the heart. The Crossing Part One will arrive in China on 2nd December with the second part arriving May 2015. No word on a UK, Irish or U.S release date but if this is anything like his previous films expect a release in the near future.
The Crossing stars many John Woo regulars including Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhang Ziyi, plus Song Hye-kyo, Huang Xiaoming, Tong Dawei, and Masami Nagasawa.
Based on the true story of the the Taiping ferry that capsized on January 27, 1949 in the Baijie Strait (about 71 miles southeast of Shanghai, China), the film revolves around an epic love stories of three couples, played by Zhang Ziyi, Song Hye-kyo, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Huang Xiaoming, Tong Dawei, and Masami Nagasawa.
