In exchange for a fee of £2,000 these human “guinea pigs” have agreed to spend two weeks in isolation testing an experimental new drug known only as Pro9. After settling into the facility, each participant is given a first injection and, following a group dinner, sent to bed. But shortly after dark, the group is woken by the harrowing screams of one of their number. Soon, each volunteer begins to succumb to the terrifying and previously unknown effects of Pro9 during a never-ending night fraught with horror, madness, violence and death.

The gang successfully execute the kidnapping and demand a large ransom, but when the family refuses to give up any kind of money their plan slowly begins to unravel. Rem is drawn deeper and deeper into the worsening situation and his darker impulses are revealed. When he is tasked with monitoring Freddy's cell, Rem seems to enjoy the power he holds over the rich man and cruelly tests his psychological resolve.

After 21 days the ransom is finally paid but the police are already closing in. Two of the gang are arrested but Rem and Cor manage to flee to France. They are apprehended but legal proceedings and extradition issues may give them a chance to evade Dutch justice. Freddy Heineken then begins his own quest for extrajudicial revenge.

Synopsis

As one final mission before their retirement, former Black Ops soldier Cross (Steven Seagal) and his partner Manning (Steve Austin) are assigned the task of decommissioning an old military prison and safely transport all the detainees to a different site. Before doing so, they must firstly oversee the mysterious arrival of two high-security female prisoners that pose a potential risk to the safe-running of the operation.

Win Tickets To See London Italian Film Festival Closing Film NiNA

Cinema Made in Italy 2013 kicks off on 6 March at the Ciné Lumière in South Kensington, celebrating the third edition of London’s Italian film festival. The event, which has become an annual rendezvous, is organised by the Filmitalia Department of Istituto Luce Cinecittà in Rome and the Italian Cultural Institute in London. It offers cinemagoers in the capital a five day showcase of the best recent Italian productions, never before screened in the UK.

The festival’s five day programme includes ten new Italian films: a selection of eight titles made by Gianni Canova, Italian film critic, Professor of Cinema History and Dean of IULM University in Milan, and a special choice of two films by Adrian Wootton, CEO of Film London. The screenings will be followed by Q&A sessions with directors and actors. This is a unique chance for both the public and UK distributors to see Italian films that have not yet had exposure in the UK and a rare opportunity to catch up with brand new, cutting edge Italian cinema. The festival will highlight the work of established talent such as Ferzan Ozpetek, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Marco Tullio Giordana and Luigi Lo Cascio, as well as introducing a raft of new names to audiences here. This year’s event also includes a special children’s screening of a new animated version of the classic Italian fairytale PINOCCHIO, screening on Sunday 10 March at the family friendly time of 5.00pm. A small group of misfit friends and petty crooks are hired by a mysterious man to break into a derelict suburban house with the sole purpose of finding and stealing a rare videotape. Their only clue to identifying the tape in question is, “You’ll know it when you see it.”

However, on arrival at the house they soon realize the job isn’t as straightforward as they imagined. In one room they discover the lifeless body of a middle-aged man sitting in an armchair, facing a wall of television sets and a stack of VHS cassettes. A similar bounty of tapes is found in the basement, none of which bears any obvious markings to suggest it is the prize they are seeking. As they search through the tapes, playing them in turn, they are treated to a succession of graphic and apparently genuine video recordings, each one more shocking and bizarre than the last.
