After several sucessfull short movies Justin Lerner transides into festure lenth movies and GIRLFRIEND is his first venture and he has a perfect place to premiere the movie at next weeks Toronto Film Festival.
The movie is about Evan a down syndrome man comes into some money and decide to persue his dream his old school love Candy (Shannon Woodward). Candy is a pretty girl but she does lead a troubled life , big in debt and a single mother and on the verge of been evicted Evan rescues her and Candy feels she must repay in kindness but throw in the ex-boyfriend Twilights Jackson Rathbone and a triangle develops between the three.
Automatically you think its one of those afternoon melodramas you get every day on channel 5, well it is a melodrama but Lerner takes his tv style movie to something worth checking out.
