EIFF 2011: Watch The Offical UK/Irish Trailer For The Funny THE GUARD Starring Brendon Gleeson, Don Cheadle

Cannes Film Festival is now finished, it's regarded as the glamorous festival but now its turn for the world's oldest film festival to kick off in June 65th Edinburgh International Film Festival. On June 15th John Michael McDonagh's  THE GUARD which stars Brendon Gleeson, Don Cheadle, Mark Strong, Liam Cunningham, Fionnuala  Flanagan.

Gleeson and Cheadle are an odd couple in this action comedy Gleeson the Irish Policeman with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international drug-smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell (Cheadle) Everett to his door. Whilst the movie may not have anything original to the whole movie its the relationship Gleeson and Cheadle bring to the movie mixing in some good banter with dialogue that may not be pc but the one liners he cracks are fantastic, one of the best ones is the in trailer about been gay in IRA is the only way to infiltrate MFI!

The movie has been on the festival circuit for about 6 months now and the buz for the movie has been very good and on June 15th the movie makes its British Premiere when it opens Edinburgh international Film Festival. Ive been trying for about 1 week to get the code to post the trailer online for you to enjoy and thankfully now you can.

Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a small-town Irish cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international drug-smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door.

Boyle drifts through life, not much concerned about anything, not even the mysterious murder of a man in one of the town's holiday cottages. But when Everett shows Boyle the mugshots of four drug traffickers, he recognises one of them as the dead man.

And so the two cases converge, with a bemused Everett finding himself adrift in the decidedly original and sometimes surreal world of Sergeant Gerry Boyle, the last of the independents!
