A Prophet is an violent gritty story of a young arab inmate Malik (Tahar Rahim) who rises through the criminal ranks to become a formidable player, A Prophet is hard gritty detail of social realism directed by Jacques Audiard who accounts true prison life and organised crime right down to every detail but also highlights how detrimental prison and crime is as well.

Whatever you think of foreign movies A prophet has won numerous awards and nominations in many 2009 film festival/ award shows along with fantastic reviews from some of the worlds big critics.
