Independent Film distributor Crabtree Films have snapped up the 2010 Sundance Festival hit movie Holy Rollers starring BAFTA / Oscars Nominee Jesse Eisenberg for UK distribution. The movie comes fresh after his fantastic lead role in The Social Network as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg (whom he finally met last week on America’s SNL) and the movie at last years Sundance festival received some very strong reviews especially for Eisenberg’s performance as well as his co-star Justin Bartha.
Justin Bartha (‘The Hangover 1 and 2’, ‘National Treasure’), Ari Graynor (‘Whip It’, ‘Youth in Revolt’) and Q-Tip feature alongside Eisenberg in a story set between the bustling streets of New York City and the night clubs of Amsterdam and is about an innocent young man , Sam (Eisenberg) who is lured into a dark, seedy underworld and becomes involved in smuggling drugs.I posted the American trailer last April in time for it’s stateside release expecting the UK release to follow suite but as we know now it never happened but thankfullynow Crabtree Films will give The British & Irish film fans a chance to watch the movie. No release date has been set yet but however Crabtree Films hope to make announcement very soon to coincide with Jesse Eisenberg’s visit to UK, check out the American trailer below.
‘Holy Rollers’ is inspired by actual events in the late nineties when Hasidic Jews were recruited as mules to smuggle ecstasy from Europe into the United States.
