Magnolia Pictures have released the offical trailer for Max Winkler’s debut Feature CEREMONY via Apple. The movie tells the story of Sam (Michael Angarano) and Marshall (Reece Thompson) who are former best friends who decide to spend a weekend at a beachside location and they gatecrash a wedding party on a estate owned by a famous documentary maker(leePace). As the friends try to start mending there friendship it becomes clear Sam is in love with the filmmakers fiancee (Uma Thurman) and goes out to break up there upcoming wedding.
The movie made its debut at Last years Toronto film festival to postivie reviews and looking at this trailer it does look a very good feature debut for Winkler. Last Year’s Glasgow Film Festival I caught a screening of Gentleman Bronco’s starring Angarano and was impressed by him, he looks very good in this more serious grown up part. Ceremony looks a very charming movie with The Royal Tenenbaums/ The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou feel to it.
Ceremony first get a Video On Demand release by Magnolia on March 4th before it hit SXSW a week later then on April 8th it will get a limited released in USA. No word yet on a UK/Irish release fingers crossed it will later in the year.
Sam Davis (Michael Angarano) convinces his former best friend to spend a weekend with him to rekindle their friendship at an elegant beachside estate owned by a famous documentary filmmaker (Lee Pace). But it soon becomes clear that Sam is secretly infatuated with the filmmaker’s fiancee, Zoe (Uma Thurman), and that his true intention is to thwart their impending nuptials. As Sam’s plan begins to unravel, he is forced to realize how complicated love and friendship can be.
