All at Cinehouse have been really impressed and enjoyed the recent works for the students/graduates from the National Film School of Denmark. Like the schools previous students (Lars Von Trier) the subject matter the of the current crop may be seen as controversial and below is a example of what may stir up some reaction when its released.
Below is a short teaser trailer and images of Isabella Eklöf's NOTES FROM UNDERGROUND (NoterFraKælderen) which tackles the dark topic of paedophilla and looking at the teaser the filmmaker seems to tackle and present in a strong credible way. Paedophilla is a subject which effects people in a parts of the world sadly even on our own door step and Eklof tackles thing very well, the movie seems to be inspired greatly by the evil events that occured in Belgium in the 1990's as well as Austria recently. The movies subject is sometimes fobbed of by studios due to the sensitivity of the subject but its one that needs to highlighted as its happening too much these days.
A big praise goes to the the actors Karlberg: Rasmus Haxen and 12 year old Lærke Storm E. Engelshardt for taking up the role as the predator and the victim, Engelshardt won the part over 250 applicants so well done to her and the students of the film school good luck guys!
Notes from Underground is a bitterly ironical view on the absurd everyday life of a paedophile and the little girl he keeps in his cellar. The story is inspired by the cases that took place in Belgium and Austria from the 90's up until recently.
