When I read the description of this movie I was suspecting something a little more darker, sinister but soon as the trailer music started how wrong I was. TOKYO KOEN is about Yoji a man who takes pictures of families in his local park after been approached by a stranger who asks him to take pictures of a certain woman and her child her agrees. Without asking why he wants the pictures Koji takes them and before he knows it his own relationship with the girl he loves is in trouble. 2 of the women he has taken pictures of are his longtime friend and his step sister who offer him advice and encouragement but the third woman reminds him of someone he cared for in his distant past.
The movie is directed by Shinji Aoyama with this one been his first movie in 4 years and Tokyo Koen seems to be in the more cheerful arthouse moderather than the stalker type movie I was expecting and when you hear that cheesy J-Pop sound within 10 seconds into the trailer you know this wont be a dark thriller.The movie stars Haruma Miura, Nana Eikura, Manami Konishi and Haruka Igawa with the movie coming out in Japan on June 18th.
