2 weeks ago we posted the UK trailer for THE GUARD the indie comedy starring Brendon Gleeson, Don Cheadle, Mark Strong and Liam Cunningham and today the Official American trailer has appeared online. The new trailer has been released online from Sony Picture Classics via Apple with the new trailer having alot of new footage, this just looks even more funnier. It seems the movie has plenty of those quirky one liners that would have the PC brigade choking their popcorn, you know you shouldn't laugh but its just funny. Brendon Gleeson plays that unorthadox Irish Policeman with a confrontational personality who thinks "I'm Irish sure, racism is part of my culture!" , Don Cheadle plays FBI cop who teams up with Gleeson looking for the drug smugglers as well been the target of alot of the abuse.
Anywhere the movie has played its received some fantastic reviews and the latest will be next week as the movie will kick off the Edinburgh International Film festival and then from July 8th the movie will go on national release (USA limited release July 29th).
Sergeant Gerry Boyle is a small-town Irish cop with a confrontational personality, a subversive sense of humour, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international drug-smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door.Boyle drifts through life, not much concerned about anything, not even the mysterious murder of a man in one of the town's holiday cottages. But when Everett shows Boyle the mugshots of four drug traffickers, he recognises one of them as the dead man.And so the two cases converge, with a bemused Everett finding himself adrift in the decidedly original and sometimes surreal world of Sergeant Gerry Boyle, the last of the independents!
