Final Trailer For DONNIE YEN in WU XIA (updated With English Subtitles Now)

A second and final trailer for Peter Chan's historical martial arts epic WU XIA ( or Swordsmen) has been released online. The movie had its world premiere at this years Cannes Film Festival and is been described by many western critics who caught the movie at the festival as China's version of History of Violence which may give you an indication of possibly the level of violence in this one. Also remember  to throw in some emotional levels with the martial arts which look fantastic and you cant beat guys getting kicked through brick walls by Donnie Yen!

Some of you may not realise WU XIA was a form of Chinese fiction  which spread through popular Chinese culture from books, comics, tv, film even video games. Wu means 'martial', 'military', or 'armed, with xia meaning 'honourable', 'chivalrous', or hero and in martial artist terms  who follow code of xia  are referred to as xiake 'follower of xia' which translated is regarded as 'swordsmen'. So the Weinstein Company who bought the North American rights to this film have called it Dragon which has no meaning or connection with the film, WU XIA was also banned by the communist party  only to lift the ban in 1980's.

The movie is getting released in China on July 4th and will actually be 10 minutes longer than the rest of the world including Hong Kong possibly down to the nationalistic tones of the movie which people outside of China may not understand or respect. Whatever version makes its way to UK & Ireland we know we're in for a fantastic  movie!. The new trailer has only appeared due to the Hong Kong release date now moved to July 28th, the international release dates have still to be decided, enjoy!
