Mads Brugger Mocks Africans in Documentary THE AMBASSADOR

Ive never been the biggest fan of satirical comedy as most of the time its not funny or where funny at the time but as the mind matures you realise it wasn't funny. Mads Brugger likes to take satire to another level  a little like Sascha Baron Cohen ala Borat in THE AMBASSADOR where he pretends to be a diplomat in Central Africa with an actual diplomats passport to see how far he could get and you'll see from the trailer he does get into some crazy places. Believe it or not this is actually a documentary or more like a media stunt alot like his previous movie The Red Chapel which saw him pose as a Communist Theatre Director to gain access to North Korea, its crazy stuff thats annoyed a few people especially when he won the 2009 grand Jury prize at Sundance in Documentary section.

Check out the first trailer below and tell us what you think, you'll either cringe or burst out laughing at it, but what Brugger does do is highlight how vulnerable people worldwide are to been deceived

A strange, enigmatic and decadent white diplomat arrives in central Africa, looking like a mixture of Henry Stanley and Karl Lagerfeld. He has recently bought an ambassadorship and claims to be a do-good rich business man, who has come to spearhead a diplomatic mission. Officially he is there to start a factory that produces matches - this, to employ locals and teach how to make this simple piece of fire-making equipment. Unofficially he is really there to gain access to vast reserves of diamonds. The Ambassador is a genre-breaking, tragic comedy about the bizarre world of African diplomacy.

  1. If you really think this is a comedy, then you didn't get it.
    This is groundbreaking 'exposé'-journalism.
