It's finally here! We've been talking about it for over the past week or two and this morning Sony Pictures have delivered us a lengthy, 4 minute trailer for David Fincher's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo via MSN UK. Though we loved The Muppets parody trailer for the film, Fincher's reboot looks as gritty and as icily gothic as we'd hoped.
The spotlight will well and truly be on lead actress Rooney Mara who plays Lisbeth, a role that brought Noomi Rapace international recognition, but from the looks of it she seems to be doing a fine job so far. As for Daniel Craig as Mikael, he looks solid also, though his Swedish-English accent is a little Dick Van Dyke meets Swedish Chef.
Watch the tantalising trailer below, and for the very few people out there who may not have seen or read or even heard of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, this synopsis from MSN will help you get up to speed:
A discredited journalist (Daniel Craig) and a mysterious computer hacker discover that even the wealthiest families have skeletons in their closets while working to solve the mystery of a 40-year-old murder in this David Fincher-directed remake of the 2009 Swedish thriller of the same name. Inspired by late author Stieg Larsson's successful trilogy of books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo gets under way as the two leads (Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara) are briefed in the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, whose uncle suspects she may have been killed by a member of their own family. The deeper they dig for the truth, however, the greater the risk of being buried alive by members of the family, who will go to great lengths to keep their secrets tightly sealed.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo also stars Robin Wright, Joely Richardson, Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Plummer, Goran Visnjic, Embeth Davidtz and Geraldine James, and hits the UK on December 26.
