Filmbar70 presents 'The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion' At The ROXY

Tuesday 25th Oct, 7pm, Roxy Bar & Screen
The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion (Ercoli '70)

Filmbar70 is delighted to present the pinnacle of the ‘chamber’ giallo – ‘The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion’. We’ll be your guides as we survey the swankiest of pads, fit the most fabulous of fashions and mingle with the jettiest of sets. Celebrating the style, sophistication and sexiness of Italian cinema’s supremely seductive export, we promise an evening of giallo glamour.

Minou, a beautiful lady of leisure, appears to have it all – a rich industrialist husband, a host of chic apartments and an inexhaustible supply of voguish attire. But beneath the façade of glamour lies a lonely, unattended existence, quelled with a surfeit of booze and pills. Her reverie is torn asunder one night when she finds herself menaced by a seemingly psychotic sex maniac. Instead of relieving her of her honour, this dark stranger departs with a disclosure that chills Minou to her very core- that her husband Peter is willing to go to extreme lengths in the pursuit of wealth, even to the point of murder. Seeking solace with her closest friend, the outrageously hedonistic Dominique, Minou’s fears are annulled, only to become manifest when the stranger reappears with damning evidence of her husband’s guilt. This time, there are demands to be met in order to protect Peter’s freedom, demands that require Minou to descend to the upmost depths of depravity - for this blackmailer has more than money on his mind. As the games commence, Minou becomes trapped in a labyrinth of coercion, perversion and paranoia, where she cannot even trust those closest to her…

The first of director Luciano Ercoli’s unofficial giallo trilogy, ‘The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion’ is a dazzling riot of astonishing apparel and uproarious utterances that spices its breezy demeanour with a camp and kinky undercurrent. Contrasting the brittle beauty of Dagmar Lassander with the voluptuous allure of giallo goddess Nieves Navarro, ‘Forbidden Photos’ has impeccable credentials in front and behind the camera, with maestro Morricone contributing one of all time greatest scores.

Talking of great music, we are proud to welcome ‘Eldiabolik’s World of Psychotronic Soundtracks’ aboard, who will injecting vinyl infusions for your listening pleasure throughout the night. Plus expect specially made content, a trailer reel charting the history of the ‘chamber’ giallo, and plenty more glam shenanigans…
