Living in the 1980s been labelled one of 'Thatcher's Children' living under her dictatorship was a scary thing especially her unhealthy relationship with another nutjob Ronald Regan. It was a terrifying time as all we got on television in the press the threat that one of those two tyrants would press the button and below us up, as it was the end of the cold war, it's ironic the graphic nature of those films and now we have many films that might be gory but not as graphic but censoring them is a big issue. So what if Obama,Cameron or some other world leader decides to blow us all up would you rather die in the blast or die in what lies after the blast, now that is the story for Xavier Gens' The Divide which now has released its official trailer.
This looks an intense thriller very dark, psychological affair which is certainly showing Michael Biehn's best side and not to lock him up in a room with people as you don't want to be there. The Divide is a post apocalyptic thriller about 9 citizens who witness a start of a nuclear attack and escape to the shelter of a bunker, surviving the blast was the least of their worries as human threats from inside and outside they must now contend with. Not a bad cast for a indie horror Milo Ventimiglia, Michael Biehn, Rosanna Arquette, Courtney B. Vance, and Lauren German, no word on the release here in the UK&Ireland Anchor Bay are dealing with the American side possibly UK side too if they do this more likely to be direct to DVD (the movie has already done the International festival circuit including UK) but for USA January 13th 2012 the film will see a limited release.
Synopsis:Nine strangers — all tenants of a New York high rise apartment –escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, the group begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment. As supplies dwindle, and tensions flare, and they grow increasingly unhinged by their close quarters and hopelessness, each act against one another becomes more depraved than the next. While everyone in the bunker allows themselves to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape even with no promise of salvation on the outside.
