Is This The Smell Of Japanese Reeves & Mortimer? Trailer For THE WARPED FOREST

Though at times they may destroy some credibility by slapping a j-pop song in some films you don't expect hear music like that unless it's relevant (think jedward singing the theme tune for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), the Japanese attempts to be different in film genre is very commendable. Sometimes that attempt to be different does venture into the world of surreal as well as bizzare, behold the trailer for THE WARPED FOREST!

Followers of Katsuhito Ishii and Aniki's Funky Forest a third member of your strange little cult has joined with this surreal but refreshingly funny flick that looks like a Japanese sketch of The Smell Of Reeves & Mortimer mashed up with Monty Python. No dead parrot's here but Shunichiro Miki's attempt into a insane Cronenberg fantasy world which has a fetus style puppet that will surely make you choke on your afternoon brunch of instant noodles, before I get even more stupid best to watch sit back and enjoy the trailer for The Warped Forest ...Arigato gozaimasu!

Settle into your chair and be transported to a place both familiar and alien; where a giant shopgirl can barely fit in her store, there's a weird green pod in every bedroom, and terrifying wood nymphs provide a heartbroken woman with the anatomically correct fruit everyone seems to covet. In the end we are left, like Alice, with the Red King's conundrum: are we dreaming them or are they dreaming us?
